I'm not sure what the OEM stuff is but I personally use the stuff from the corner autoparts store and it works pretty good.

The brake lube that comes in the small square packets at the check-out counter at ANY auto parts store works perfect.

I hear you should only put grease on the calipers and no anti-squeal grease on the shim.. can anyone confirm this?

Looking at the Lexus repair manual, it states to use lithium soap base glycol grease.

It also states, there should be no oil or grease on the shims and friction surfaces of the pads and disc, and apply a light layer of lithium soap base glycol grease to the caliper support pin of the caliper support bracket .

I'll give you a screenshot when I get back to work. It's only accessible if you subscribe to TIS, or work for Lexus/Toyota/Scion.

I applied the lube to the slide pins, shims, and pad backing. No issues to speak of.

I think I'm just gonna use Permatex/Ultra disc brake caliper lube on my calipers and not use any grease on my shims.

^That will work, but the size of the container might be overkill. A small packet available at the checkout counter will do an entire car 2-3 time over. Here's the one I get :
