Default HELP ASAP!!! Question about AP Racing brake installation

To anyone with the the AP 6piston brake setup (rominl, Manaray, MrJohnson, etc...),

Were any of you told you needed longer wheel studs to compensate for the rotor hat being thicker than the stock hat?

Hey man, it's me Don from STILLEN...I see there's a question about the studs. While I myself do not know, we have a new brake expert who may be able to assist you. Give him a call at 800.711.4123, his name is Terry Henderson.

nop, nothing is needed. the stock wheel stuts work just fine. actually the stuts stay exactly the same length as it was with the old rotors

you sure you have pushed the rotors all the way in?

My installer is telling me the rotor hat is 4-5mm thicker than the stock hat. That combined with the extra hi disk fitment on my new wheels (I'll measure the disk thickness when I get the car) has caused this situation.

For me it was a direct swap. What kind of wheels you have? I thought everyone but the last buyer had AV-3 wheels. We know that for the 18" and 19" sizes there is no problem.

Good luck!

I had to use a 5mil spacer to clear my wheels, due to its design and offset. Because of the spacer, I also needed longer studs. Sounds similar to the extra hi disk fitment on your new wheels. Sounds like your installer knows.

I have HRE 544R wheels. Peter @ WheelExperts did the fitment. I let him know about this for future refernce. With the fitment I got on the fronts, I have about 1-1.5 in. of space between the caliper and the back of the wheel. How much clearance do you guys with the AV3s have?

wow, an inches of clearance! that's a lot! you don't rub at all? i have like 3 or 4mm clearance only, looks nice though coz' that makes the brakes look huge

umm.... i am not sure about that if it's like 5mm thicker, but i still have plenty of clearance for sure
