Default Install Pics - TRD Sways/LCB

Got my TRD Sways and LCB installed today (I already have the TRD STB). The difference between the stock sways/LCB and the TRD ones are like night and day. Body roll is virtually eliminated. The car feels firmly planted on the ground. The car can now be driven with more confidence. If Lexus wants the GS to be a true BMW killer, it should ship them from the factory with the TRD setup.

As for ride quality, since the TRD setup is so much more stiffer than the stock one, road imperfections and noise is transmitted into the cabin. Ride quality is a little harsher, but I think most people will not mind especially for the benefit of a stiffer setup. There's no real difference in ride quality when driving on fairly smooth roads. I do notice a slight difference in ride quality when going over things like manhole covers and speed bumps (and of course on rough surfaces). I'm running stock 16s and a stock suspension. I think ride quality will be a harsher if I were on 18s. Bottomline, I highly recommend the TRD sways/LCB/STB!

I got the TRD sways/LCB/TRDs from Steve Gantz at Carson Toyota. No one should try someone else for parts before calling Steve. The install was done at Longo Lexus and Verone Pangilinan provided me with great service and price.

Here are some pics of my TRD setup. Here's the TRD STB...

Mike-GS400:

Thanks for the pics....great reference for the DIY gang.....looks as though your tire treads are running thin....maybe that contributes a bit to the noise issue....as does the tire pressure.

Does that STB just drop on, then tighten her up?

Yup. Sometimes it won't go right on and you have to raise the car a bit to align the chassis.

installed my sways too. wow, this is BIG inprovement i have to say!!!! it's awesome!!!! the car pretty much don't roll anymore, and it's soooooo planted to the ground. ride is definitely stiffer and harsher, but it's a nice tradeoff with performance. i LOVE it

Default TRD Sways

Is the ride actually Actually Harsher with the Sways?
I thought it only affects Handling not Ride?

yes it does and i could tell. having better sways supposedly should affect ride quality, however the trd sways are just way too stiff for the car, even to the point that it starts to affect the ride

Yes, it is harsher, more sensitive to little bumps and road imperfections. Makes the car 'jiggly'. But it makes me giggly too!

so the consensus is that its harsher and louder...as if 20s didn't make my car loud enough

but oh well, sways are next

I wouldn't say sways make the car any louder at all.
