Default Shocks/Sways vs TC/LSD..What would you do?

Hey guys:

How about some opinions. Given only one choice, would you:

a.) Set up the suspension with shocks/struts/coilovers/sways/etc.

or

b.) Buy the Dragon TC/TRD LSD?

It's for a '99 GS400...stock right now.

If you could post your choice and why. I'm leaning toward suspension. Power is no good if the chassis can't handle it.

Thanks for the help.

My GS is stock as well. I've decided to go with suspension upgrades first. Here's the order I'm doing my upgrades:

1. Springs/Shocks
2. Wheels/Tires
3. Sway bars
4. Braces

I have a very expensive habit of buying/selling cars every couple of years (or less). I want to keep this GS until it dies, so doing these upgrades slowly should rejuvenate my desire to keep the car.

After these upgrades, I would consider doing TC, LSD, etc. The stock suspension doesn't adequately handle the stock power.

For sure I'd do the suspension upgrades first.

The GS400 has ample power to start off with. It certainly doesn't have a complimentry suspension/handling system. Doing the handling upgrade will allow you to safely put that stock power to the road.

Good Luck.

i would do the suspension first no brainer. the gs4 already has plenty of power, it's fast. handling is what disappointing on the stock car, so that's what i would do, and that's what i have done

Thumbs up

I agree with what everyone has said, suspension first.

Suspension first. And like many others that have chimed in, I'm not just saying that, I'm doing it.

I am not even going to say anything about suspension, as anything that I could say has already been said.

I will point out, though, that the biggest bang for the buck in the suspension department would be sways (provided, you don't mind that increased harshness from one-wheel impacts).
If you go for them, top them off with the front strut tower bar.

Then, I would do the springs/shocks and then wheels.

The order of preference is from performance point of view (appearance would probably start off with the wheels and then lowering and then everything else).

Enjoy!

From the start- I started with Rims/Suspension and now have TC and LSD last. But maybe my point of view is seemingly devil's advocate but If I knew before what I knew now.. I will start with AP Racing Brakes then move to TC/ and LSD, then suspension with bodykit last.

Just my opinion, but initally I did Suspension first!
Its a great modd. And I am not knocking it..
But If I had to do over again I would do it the other way..

Gotta Luv Lexus!
