my ap racing 6 piston big brake upgrade
so for those who have read about it, i organized the ap racing 6 pistons big brakes upgrade GB back in a while. turned out it's a successful one. we were able to get 5 guys together and the final price came down from the 3200 msrp to 2600. together with all the ss lines, fluid, and rear setup, each of us paid like around 3200 out of the door, which is some killer price if you ask me
look wise, it's no brainer. the 6 pistons setup looks awesome. huge and thick rotors. the caliper is big and nice, and seriously i think black matches my car perfectly. the caliper first came with the white sticker that says stillen 6 pistons, but i got them to send me the better yellow ap racing sticker. i put them on and now it looks a lot better. the rotors are 13.5" drilled / slotted one.
for the rear brakes, i stayed with the stock calipers, but i painted them black, put on the lexus logo sticker, and put on clear coat. i changed the pads to better ones, swap out the rotors to drilled rotors, and ss lines.
performance wise, let me tell you it's awesome. very linear feel. now i don't have really push the brake to make it stop. but a gentle push and the brakes will work for me already. since i decided to go with street pads rather than race pads (i want it more long lasting), the car doesn't stop as quick as manaray's car, the one that i test drove. but still it's definitely quicker than the stock one. there is no noise from the brakes, very quiet, and braking is very stable. i havent' beeen able to do any testing yet coz' i need to properly break them in, but i have a feeling that they will be very good investment.
for the record, the supra tt spare tire WILL fit on the big brakes no problem i have tried. now i just need to find one. anyone, please!!!!!!!
and as a last note, Todd at tm engineering installed the brakes for me for a very good price. the install could be as short as 3 hours, but he took the time and installed everythint right. turned out to be a 5 hrs install but let me tell you it's well worth it.
Todd is clearly a very detail oriented person, he wants to do everything right, and he cares about everything. i was able to watch him work the whole time and it's awesome. if you want to do any kind of install, buy parts, etc... get it from him. he's a lexus specialist imho and let him work on your gs and you will never go wrong. my two thumbs up. he's in carson area, very close to carson toyota.
so without ado, let's see the pics (yeah i know, you guys don't wanna hear me talk anyway ).

Very nice So, from what you are saying the initital bite has improved. Have you had a chance to do some consecutive higher speed braking to see how the abs reacts and if there is any fade? (Probably won't be, but I'm just curious). Also, I understand you probably would need a little different pads. Once again, very clean install.
