sc400 rear caliper is a little bigger then the 300

sc 400 are a bit bigger and top dog said. however i think a lot of of people say you can us the LS model brakes for your car as well.

Yea sc400 caliper and rotor has more meat, Simple cheap upgrade.

What is needed for this upgrade?

While we're on the subject. What's better LS400 95+ Rear brakes vs SC400 rear brakes? Also I know Supra TT Rear Brakes are the best upgrade for SC400. Are the N/A Supra brakes an upgrade for the SC400 rears?

I don't think the ls400 rear calipers fit the sc. just the fronts. I believe the supra n/a and sc300 have the same brakes so the sc400 would be better then supra n/a due to the added weight of the v8

The v-8 is actually lighter than the 2jz and the sc400 and supra share the same rear brakes just to clarify:)

Candela 11-02-12 09:19 PM

Pretty sure the SC400 is still heavier for unclarified reasons

xspsi6 11-02-12 09:58 PM

Nope you have an all aluminum v8 vs a cast iron straight six, The 1uzfe is actually lighter than most cast 4 cyl engines.

Candela 11-03-12 07:27 PM

I know the 2jz is heavier than the 1uz, but I'm talking about an overall curb weight difference between an sc300 and an sc400.

xspsi6 11-03-12 08:27 PM

Why would the 400 weigh more than the 300 ?

SC300
Curb weight ranges from 3494 lbs. in 1992 to 3560 lbs. in 2000.

SC400
Curb weight ranges from 3575 lbs. in 1992 to 3655 lbs. in 2000.

With a manual transmission swap I'm sure the SC400 is lighter.

I hardly think 80 # warrants a bigger rear brake set up lol
