Default BC vs Megan lp spring rate

I do know the spring rates between the three but I want to know the comparison between comfort.
I understand comfort is perception but I would like a feel of what I'm getting into.
Right now I'm looking into the 12k 10k of the BC coils.
since the spring rates of the making lp n bc coil overs are the same do they feel the same I know BC has a bigger shock body but does that make that much of a difference between the 2.... Isn't the during rate the bigger factor of the coils?

iirc, megan racing LP's are 12 kg/mm up front and 8 kg/mm in the rear.

as far as ride quality, you're not going to gain or lose a lot (or if anything perceivable) for daily driving purposes.

but if you're looking to run low offset wheels and minimize suspension travel at a stupid-low static ride height, you might want to opt for higher spring rates than the standard 12/10. conversely, if you need something that isn't as backbone-jarring, opt for lower spring rates.

the beefier shock body just means that they'll last longer, but i'm sure CircuitMS can provide additional commentary on this.

im debating on geting the 12k and 10k setup with the bc coils. i want the coils for the performance aspect of it so i dont plan on dropping more than 1.5". i have pm'ed a few people with the 12/10 setup and they love it but they are generally a finger gap from the rim. i plan on running stocks for a while dropped to the top of the tire. i have ridden on the megan EZ 10/8 setup and it is too soft for my liking so that why i feel the 12/10 will work better for me.
i do drag race so the extra stiffness will help with tire hop but i just dont want the comfort level to be stiffer than BMW 3 series stock ride.

Why do you assume a stiffer spring rate in the rear is better for drag racing? Its in fact the opposite. I went with BCRs and drag race a good amount each year at the local 1/8th mile. I find myself dropping down the dampening from a DD rate of 12-15 to between 5 - 8 clicks up from 0 with my 8k rear spring rate (12k up front). If I had to do it again though I would have went with 14/10, but I'm still on stock sways. I do plan to get both bars once finances allow.

Either way, you cannot lose with BCRs; I love mine!

when you have blown shocks and put full power down to the wheels you get wheel hop. cuz the shocks cant keep the power on the floor. as with anything there is a limit but you do need a good suspension to keep the power going to the wheels.

so i guess im going to go with the 12/10 setup. i feel it would be good for me as im not slamming the car.

im looking for coilover too, beside Megan LP and BC any of you will consider the D2 RS 19/10?. will 19kg/mm too stiff?. thank you club members

Basically, The BC Racing kit will ride better than the Megans.

The thicker shocks bodies provide better overall rigidity to the Coilover setup which minimizes deflection in the coilover itself. The bigger internal piston has a bigger surface area for the valve stack which provides better damping control.

For a "nicer" kit with better ride quality I'd go with a BCR kit - 12/10 rates for a street car if you want to be riding low but still want some comfort, or a 14/12 kit if you like to have that stiff/firm feel in your suspension.

Hit us up if you want some help

at 19k i doubt the springs in the coil-overs will even compress on our cars. that would be strictly track spring rates. most of the track cars here don't go over 16k. do some more reading on the forum

Sorry to bring up this old thread. I am in the middle of an order with BC coils and I cant seem to decide what spring rates to go with. They have the 12/10 however being that I ride slammed (tucking the whole tire) I am wondering if I should get stiffer?

Can anyone comment?

I think you should get 14/12 to be honest. Better safe than sorry!

I agree with the above comment. Better stiffer if you are going Hella Flush.

honestly you could do 14/10 my rears never rub and i have them pretty soft. Something like 12 clicks from softest. sffd has 8k on his rears i believe so hit him up too. you could have just texted me. im growing fond of this 12k 10k at first it was too stiff for my liking but once i broke it in a bit it has gotten better.
im this low now and i used camber arm to give me more positive camber. i'm at 2 degrees, without the camber arms i think you would be at 3- 3.5 degrees which shouldn't rub. all i had to do was a roll. my fronts rub on the liner though.you still going to run the concavo's?
