Default Air Cup Kit suspension

Can someone explain to me how exactly this type of suspension works? Does anyone have a link or something that tells you how it is designed? I'm searching for it but all I can find are just companies that sell the product.

All I do know is that it can only raise your car momentarily and cannot lower anymore than what it is set at. Would love to get more info on this type of setup.

Thanks!

In a air bag system the air bag replaces the coil part of the suspension. In an air cup system the coils are kept and the cups are put over the coils at the top of them. Here is a pic to show where they go:

Then air is put into the cup which moves a plate that is inside the cup. The plate pushes on the spring, which compresses the spring but also raises your car. Some air cup systems are built so you can ride with the cups inflated while others are not.

Phantom Cup kit installed on Tein Comfort Sport Coilovers, and retains function of EDFC

More info:
"What make's the Phantom Cup Kit different from our competitors you may ask?
With bag type suspensions, there are always precautions, bags can and will have a chance of tearing which causes it to leak air. Or it may burst if not used correctly as well. When this happens your vehicle will litterally be sitting on the ground causing more problems if you need your vehicle towed since your vehicle is now non operational.

But with the Phantom Cup Kit, in anyway if it may malfunction, your vehicle is still operational since our suspension incorporates the spring still. In simple terms, the Phantom Cup Kit is bulletproof! Also, with our kit you may ride with air filled cups and still have a smooth ride.

Our cup kit is made from a solid 6061 Aluminum housing to prevent any deformation or warping.
Within our creation, we use a total of four solid O rings to provide the perfect bullet proof suspension. Our unique tank that comes with the kit is a sleek compact 6061 billet aluminum tank that comes in two different sizes to create ease if you choose to mount it in a concealed area. The lines and fittings that we use in our suspension can withhold 1000 pounds of pressure. Switches that we use comes with a trigger that instantly kicks the compressor on instead of waiting for air to fill up before it turns on. "

"This system is the only cup suspension that allows consumers to drive with or without air injected into the cups. While mating the Phantom Cup Kit with the consumer’s choice of coilover system, the cup itself acts as nothing but a solid top hat housing the coilover. Will my car be drivable if the system fails, you may ask. With The Phantom Cup Kit, when the cups are deprived of air, you will be at the lowest setting you tuned on the coilover system. What if the cups break? The main component of The Phantom Cup Kit is constructed of 60-61 T6 U.S. grade billet aluminum to insure high strength.

A design with the thought of sleek and simplicity in mind, The Phantom Cup Kit eliminates manifolds, solenoids, box switches, and a “rat’s nest” of wiring. The typical three and five gallon air tank idea was destroyed in the initial plans of The Phantom Cup Kit. To accommodate the use of a full trunk, an extensive design was created. The Phantom Air Tank is also constructed of heat treated 60-61 T6 U.S. grade billet aluminum, measuring fourteen inches in length, four and a half inches in height, and a sleek six inches in width with the capacity to hold one gallon of air."
