Default LS400/Supra TT Reman caliper??

Anyone ever buy reman calipers from Napa or any auto part store and use them for the BBK upgrade??

If so, any issues?? Quality vs OEM??

Thanks

Got two calipers today.. 1 Front and 1 rear

Wondered this myself... they're an attractive option compared to used 14+ year old calipers in need of a rebuild.

they are way cheaper than on the forums. If you really wanted to know they are to spec just rebuild them with oem parts.

I run a parts department at a dealership and have been pondering about using these new remanufactured centric calipers and rotors... Now seeing how Centric ownes stop tech and Power slot http://www.centricparts.com/ ... and the fact that I get wholesale pricing on everything... I believe I can get loaded calipers for the same money we are buying the 14+ year old ones for..

And just to make it better, I found through the place I buy all my aftermarket parts from that he will sell any Centric related part to me at his cost.

Now I use these centric parts for all the used cars that grow through our shop.. I buy them cheap and have never had a problem with combacks... This leads me to believe that they have to be a pretty well built part.

Hmm..

1 side 1998 LS400 caliper semi loaded remanufactured. Includes core fee, does not inc. tax/shipping. From:

NAPA= $127
Rockauto=$102
eBay= $100-$200
Autozone=$123
O'reilly=Couldn't find anything
Pepboys=Couldn't find anything

It would be awesome to try and actually do a braking distance test to see if upgrading actually does anything besides pedal feel.

Centric rotors are great. I go through them like candy during race season since many of the motorsports pads are very harsh on rotors.
It's amazing that you can still get a COMPLETE set of rotors for sooo cheap and great quality.

Nothing wrong at all with purchasing from NAPA or other sources. It's an OEM piece that has been rebuilt. Just don't turn in the core. Eventually it will get to a point where they are sending out SC calipers as TT's.

On the SC I'm still wearing down a set of Autozone specials from the previous owner. They are plain rotors.

On the weekend toy I run plain rotors. Drilled are a big no-no for me. Cracked a set about 4 seasons ago.
Raybestos ST41 pads up front and ST43 in the back. Used to run Hawk DTC-60's but went to these and wouldn't turn back.

One of my rear T.T calipers came re-manufactured from Centric, I bought the other one brand new from the Toyota dealership...Both look identical in terms of visual condition, except the Re-Man one from centric came with copper crush washers and a new banjo bolt.

Re-manufactured rear caliper is on the right...
