brake booster question
 

whats the difference between a 99-00 and 01-05 brake booster:confused:

any input will be greatly appreciated.... THANKS

one sensor.

remove all plugs... some are pointed in the arrows below. Save the washers and remember how to put the washers back on.

remove sensor with deep socket. Keep this sensor.... (this is the only difference between pre 2001 and 2001+)

go to the driver side and unbolt the brake attachment (1 bolt) and the bolts holding the booster to the body (4 bolts). Go to the engine bay and wiggle out the assembly.

Now, install the new assembly. Tighten the 4 bolts and the brake thingamajig lever..the thing you step on to stop :)
go back to the engine bay and remove the sensor. Now replace it with your pre 2001 sensor and plug everyting back in.

thanks sam430 reall appreciate it...should i use my original sensor off my brake booster? as my brake booster is no good would the sensor be good still?

Yes. The sensor hardly go bad. Take it off while the whole unit is still in the engine bay....very hard to remove sensor after you pull the unit.

Remove sensor. Keep it.
Remove the whole assembly.
Replace with the replacement.
Remove the sensor of the replacement after mounted....then put the original in.

No code thrown, I was told that the braking was firmer (mine is already the newer version, I changed it on someone else's older model).

Does anyone know how to turn off the abs,vsc,vsc off lights.
Jus got thru changing my brake booster and dont know how to turn off da lights...any advice would be greatly appreciated.... Thanks ....

Do our cars have an ECU fuse? On my Honda I reset the ECU by pulling that fuse.

Not sure if the size was mentioned elsewhere, but to remove and replace the sensors out of the old and new units you need a 30mm socket.

The original MCU sensor that needs to be transferred is shorter and can be removed fairly easily - as long as you have a decent sized breaker-bar. The sensor on the 2001+ MCU is a bit longer and requires a very deep socket. Make sure you've got a 30mm Deep Socket before you start this project. As mentioned before it really helps to remove and replace the sensors while the MCU is mounted in the car.
