Noise over bumps
My 95 GS seems to be very loud when going over bumps. The sound is a loud thud that echoes through the whole car and makes things rattle inside. The rear is much worse than the front.
By bumps, I mean anything that is not a totally smooth road. It doesn't take a pothole to produce it, although potholes are horrendous - you can feel the vibration through your body.
I also notice that when my wife takes the car out of the drive that there is a single loud squeek from the rear wheels as they go over the sidewalk onto the road. You can't hear the squeek from inside the car, however.
The problem has been there since I bought the car a year ago but now it is starting to get on my nerves. None of my previous cars did this, although this is my first Lexus. Am I being too fussy, or could there be a problem here?

Re: Noise over bumps
Hey, I don't think your car is supposed to do that.
Since it is getting on your nerves, you might want to run this problem by a mechanic (CL is a good source of info, but it doesn't replace mechanic inspections).
Also, I personally would be afraid to drive the car myself, or let anyone of my family drive it for extended periods of time with strange suspension noises. You never know... could be something minor or could be something major, why take a chance?

Thanks to everyone for the pointers. I had the car at the dealer today and it seems that some kind of arm is worn in the suspension. They have ordered them and will be fixing it soon. They say it's not dangerous.
So I wasn't imagining it after all.
