Default Ugo Ukyo Carbon Fiber Upper Strut Bar Install with Engine Cover

Finally found a set of Ugo Carbon Fiber Strut bars for the my Gs430. The front strut bar fit with the spacer removed and the engine cover on but had very little space and when revving the car, the engine would hit it. While revving the engine, it tilts from the driver side in a horizontal motion. To solve this problem I cut slits on the engine cover with a dremel. So far, I've seen no evidence of any damage done to the strut bar.

If I could do it all over again. I would only cut the upper portion of the slits on the side and not fully cut to the bottom.

Another option would have been to place washers under the bar mounts (2 or 3 max) to clear you engine cover. That way you wouldn't have needed to cut the strut bar decreasing it's total potential rigidity.

you probably couldve gotten away with stacking a few washers under the strut tower bar to clear the cover

I got both the front and rear for $215 used on ebay. The whole washers under the strut bar mounting points, to me, would decrease the surface area of the bar causing less rigidity. The engine cover and the strut bar had a good +/-3mm worth of clearance, I just did not want the friction to rub the clear coat off.

Has anyone pre-loaded their strut bar? If so, what estimated tension did you use?
