Default 2 Questions : Garage door opener + Brakes

Garage Door opener:

Is this think a PITA to get to work or is there a trick...
I get the flashing lights that say I have reset the codes. But when I go to hold the button down + hold the opener button down, I never get the flashing light???

Brakes:

I installed brakes 1 year ago, and the other day I noticed that if I stand on them. I can get them to the floor... The stopping point is mid pedal but again I can get it to the floor, is this normal?

Fluid level is fine and pads are not worn.

How can I tell if I need new brake lines? My car is 12 years old but has been babied/garaged with about 71k miles. Barely ever driven while in my parents possession.

depends on if you have a rolling code type garage door opener. if so hit learn on the garage door opener machine itself first and then hold down one of the buttons in the car until it blinks fast. if that doesn't work use your normal garage door opener remote and hold it 3 inches away from the button on the car with battery facing away from the button and hold down the button on the car until it blinks and press and hold the remote at same time.

have you bled the brakes lately? that just requires 2 people one to pump and one to release and close the valve on the caliper. aftermarket lines are a good idea as other have posted. i have the goodrich ones on mine. love it.

link to a DIY for bleeding brakes

hope this helps

Thanks for the handy bleed your brakes link. Know I know the technical methods to bleeding and not the ancestral way my father taught me.

The garage door thing is still not working. When I reset the codes. I press any button and it just slow flashes. It never does anything else. So here is the exact steps I did.

Erase codes (hold outer most buttons till they blink fast)
Press and hold any button (starts to flash slowly immediately, directions say should take 20 seconds)
While holding that button press and hold my garage door opener ~1-3 inches away with the battery facing away
Nothing happens.

Way 2:

Erase codes (hold outer most buttons till they blink fast)
Get out of car and press "learn button"
Get in car. Press and hold any button (starts to flash slowly immediately, directions say should take 20 seconds)
Nothing happens.
