Default What's the minimum front RCA size to clear LS400 calipers?

Im running the SAGE front RCA now....its 30mm tall.

Anyone run anything smaller than 30mm and still clear the caliper from rubbing that steering knuckle?

Btw...shaving or grinding down is NOT an option for me.

Thanks.

Pete

Pete, I have 0.5" RCAs and it barely clears the tie-rod. I'm talking maybe 2mm of clearance or so.

It was custom made by my friend (also CL member) a few years ago. I needed it just thick enough to clear because I had springs on at the time. Camber would have been really bad with thick RCAs.

I dont need to get my car lower and camber adjustment.... because i have SPC upper control arm installed. I just need to get clearance for the LS400 caliber. 0.5inch should be enough. I believe I still have another set in my garage.

0.5 inch = 12.7mm...so your front rca only clears by 2mm? wow!!

Yep. It's close, but it doesn't interfere with anything at all so it's all good . I'll probably make some 0.75" thick spacers next time to reduce bump-steer a bit more.

Where can I get the insert for the spacer (RCA)? I'm talking about the metal insert.

looks like I should make one of these for you guys next. This is a full solution for the steering and added brake clearance. With and with out spacer. I still think it is a poor way to deal with this problem to add a spacer, especially with no shear protection. These come with the same alignment inserts designed in the stock parts, machined from mould tool steel.

lowering version 3/4" drop.

top view showing hardened bearing steel bushings that align and provide further shear protection...you cannot trust bolt torque to hold your LBJ against lateral forces.

I need to adapt this to the GS and find a new ball joint...but this has been wrung out pretty good on the race track.

Looks like a one two punch to me. It takes care of the balljoint snapping off (assuming it's better) and act as an RCA.

I'm just scared that it's too thin... our GS is pretty heavy. Plus, can you make the surface area a little bigger (the two circular extrusion)... I don't know, it's just my insecurity.

although, the look about the same size in this pic.
