Default LS400 brakes and no ABS

My car does not have ABS.

I am planning on changing the FRONT brakes only

Will upgrading the brakes do anything to my braking performance, or should I not bother and simply change the pads/ rotors?

my abs went bad so i got rid of it. i also have ls400 front brakes. steel braided brake lines. stock rear brakes. brake modulation is not the best but i think its due to old fluid and master cylinder starting to show signs of wear. otherwise the brakes feel very good and predictive. i love them.

I did my LS400 swap because of pedal feel only. Great mod to firm up that feel.

if you are doing the ls400 brakes make sure to flush the brake fluid.

get some motul rbf600 or castrol srf. castrol is expensive and cost vs. performance is really not worth it.

motul is the way to go though. you can buy it for under 18 bucks a quart.
