Bilstein is named after the founders August Bilstein and Hans Bilstein.

The company has been owned by ThyssenKrupp AG since 1999.

Also TEIN reminds me...
Is it true that LEXUS stands for Luxury EXport to the US?

"Is it true that LEXUS stands for Luxury EXport to the US?"

YES

Lexus was formed in 1982 to create a luxury vehicle to challenge the world’s best.
Toyota entered the US market in 1989 at a Detroit and Los Angeles auto show.
January 1993 was the introduction of Lexus first Official US luxury performance sedan was the GS 300.

Toyota did not want the TOYOTA name tarnished if the LEXUS was a flop.

And look at LEXUS now, considered a LUXURY CAR manufacturer above Toyota.

ls400-1990
gs300-1993

The ls400 was the first vehicle but it isn't a luxury performance sedan. The GS is. The LS is a full-size luxury sedan.

ES= economy sedan
LS= luxury sedan
GS= gangsta sedan

SH_JZZ30 Nov 15, 2009 02:43 PM

I've heard people calling the SC "supra coupe".

The SC was actually a coupe version of the LS.
