Default Worn Lower Control Arm Bushings = Floorboard THUMP when braking ?

SO over the past month our GS430 has been making a THUMP noise on the floorboard while braking just before the car comes to a complete stop. I took it to a local (non-Lexus) shop and they couldn't tell me what it was .... they thought it might be my aftermarket rear rotors but that's BS because those rotors have been on for a while.

Lower ball joints were replaced last summer along with the tie rod ends.

I got the car on a lift tonight and saw this AAAAAAACK !

I'm guessing I need to call my freindly neighborhood Daizen dealer ?

Check the Rear engine mount also, that's what my independent shop told me...

I'm replacing my caster also. Parts should come next week I've been getting the dreaded vibration, and my car pulls to the right (probably because of the crappy falkens though)

Yes you'll need an alignment. Your caster spec has changed since the bushing are worn out. The toe changes as soon as caster changes, which is why some people are experiencing vibration and/or irregular tire wear.

If you need to do any other suspension work, now is the time to do it.

yea... i was thinking the same thing. i might as well get all the suspension work done now. i have questions about that but i will ask them on my own post.

do you know if the stock sways and daizen sways are the same diameter? i was wondering if the part numbers posted are for the stocks or daizens???

There are no OEM bushings available. Daizen's kit includes bushings to service all the front bushings: Caster, Lower control, and Upper control. Go look up the picture and you'll see whats in the kit.

TRD also offers bushings (rubber), but they're a 3 month wait from Japan and it's not definite that they'll fit the USDM GS.

I need to replace these this weekend as well... Anyone have a DIY link handy?? I will do a search.

I have seen the DIY for the steering rack bushings but not the control arm bushings.

What does the kit include?

The Toyota name for the caster arms is Lower Arm I just got a set from Carson Toyota for $234.00 including shipping. Part numbers are 48670-30281 for the left and 48660-30281 for the right. I will install this weekend. Report coming.

Sewell Lexus has the kit. Use the code "clublexus" and you get some discount.

But beware, you may feel more of the road just because the bushings are hard polyurethane. I wanted the TRDs, but I can't wait that long, and even then I'm not sure if they'll fit.
