Default ***Camber/Caster/Toe Alignment Info Thread***

Ever since we jointed this site, we have noticed that many of you are in really negative camber setup with your drops. It seems like no one cares to create more information of products available to correct camber, nor explain why it is important.

What is camber wear?

Camber is a general term reffered to the degree of which the wheel/tire contacts the ground. It is based upon a degree system which shows the degrees from 100% vertical adjustment.

Why is too much negative camber bad?

Negative camber, and improper toe settings can do multiple things:

1. Wear tires very fast, due to improper tire-road contact
2. Poor Handling: You will notice the rear end swing side to side as the tires never settle.
3. Loss of traction in dry and very bad loss of traction in wet on straights
4. Steering feeling will be loose and unpredictable
5. Overall unsafe handling for all road conditions

What to do?

The IS has limited stock camber adjustments, so there are aftermarket setups which help correct this problem. I know many of you are now going for the VIP look, which requires -3 to -5 degrees of camber. You can do this, but make sure its dialed in evenly and properly with toe being perfect or else kiss those tires goodbye!!!

For the IS there are solutions that are sold by SPC. These include Front ball joints:

and for the rear, a bolt kit:
