Default Stoptech 4 corner bbk

As some of you may know Stoptech was supposed to produce a 4 corner bbk kit for the 2nd gen GS, but it never happened. I have the front bbk but would really like something to match for the rear. So I contacted them and they said there is nothing available and nothing in production but I could try to adapt the rear kit from either their supra 4 corner setup, or their 1st gen IS setup. Wait the 1st gen IS gets a 4 corner bbk but not the GS Anyway I wanted to know which one would be easier to adapt to the GS rear, the supra or the 1st gen IS. I know many people use the supra tt brakes so I am wondering if the rears would be a direct fit? Or would I need to have a bracket custom made? One other thing I should add is the rear kit for the supra and 1gen IS is 355x32 ST-40, the same that is on the front of my GS. Any advice or help would be great

The supra has a different mounting bracket that what's found on the 2GS, therefore your best bet is to go with the first gen IS300 since they share the exact same brake components as the 2GS.

He's right. the IS300 shares practically the same setup. The only real difference (at least the front caliper) is the spacing between the mounting bolts.

I would be using only the rear setup from stoptech for the IS300, so there shouldnt be any issues with fitting? If the spacing for the mounting bolts for the rear were different what would need to be done to make them work?

Actually you know what..you might want to look into the rear set for the 02-06 SC430. The OEM caliper part number for the 98-05 GS is the same as the SC430. IS300, 2GS, and SC430 all share the same rear rotors. I guess only the IS300 vary slightly in terms of caliper.

Somehow on stoptech's website, they're only available for the 2002 SC430. Every other year doesn't show up. You may want to contact Stoptech to straighten things out again.

i talked with howard at stoptech and he was telling me that currently they do not make the rear kit for the GS however if there was enough interest in the kit than they would look into making production of them. i am also running stoptech fronts and a 4 corner set up would be nice.

not sure if it would line up properly with the stoptech caliper. I emailed Erik Steinkamp and he was unsure if they would be able to produce a rear kit for the 2GS because of certain agreements they have with Lexus. Not sure what that means but depending on the price it looks like I am going to just order the SC430 rear kit and make that work. I really like the silver, anyone want to buy my fronts so I can order all new?

redgs4 had the StopTech 4 corner on his GS back in 2004. They had 355mm rotors all around and the caliper body was the same size as well, however the internal piston size was smaller in the rear, which makes sense.

Unfortunately since ClubLexus lost a lot of the old picture database, this is the only shot I could find quickly of the rears.

ISPilot was the owner of the now defunct PLP (ProLexPerformance) in which he worked with StopTech to get the 4 corner set up first introduced on the IS300 and the ONLY IS300 you will see with them was his car (now sold to another member). Redgs4 was able to get the 4 corner set up, through working with Mike and StopTech.

These two cars were really the prototypes if you will. Obviously this never took off.

Back in 2007 I posted my APRacing 4 corner set up.
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sus...r-the-2gs.html

I basically ordered the Supra TT 4 corner kit. The front is bolt on and we had to make custom brackets for the rear.

I took measurements off of redgs4's rear BBK set up, which allowed me to design the custom brackets. Then the shop that sold me the BBK was able to fabricate them for me.

These brackets WILL NOT fit anything but the APRacing. You cannot mix and match different brand brake calipers with brackets.

If anyone wants a bracket for the 4 corner set up from APRacing, you can contact me. As for the StopTech set up, we know it can be done and we know they have the plans.

Unless the market demand justifies it, no one's going to sell it. With the curent state of the economy, I'd say if you really want it, you'll have to do it yourself .

Good Luck

It's a lot harder then you think. Make sure you have the technical abilities and a good machinist to make it happen.

Rmmgs4, stoptech did make a 4 corner kit for the 2GS, then it means they made a bracket, I wonder how hard it would be to get them to make a pair of brackets for me so I can use the rear setup from the sc430. Now gsteg said the rear from the GS is the same part # as the rear from the 02-06 SC, wouldn't the bracket be the same then? I haven't even thought about the brake bias, but I am glad to hear that the setup for the GS had smaller pistons in the rear, I will try to confirm with stoptech that this is the case with the SC

Glen, do you think the ap racing bracket you have could be adapted to the stoptech kit?
