Default Can't tighten upper ball joint nut

Strange question, I know, but I'm bolting everything back together after my lowering spring install, and the nut is going on the ball joint a little tough. I ran a tap through it and cleaned/lubed the stud threads, but the dam ball joint above keeps spinning! How in the world can this be tightened without the threads being squeaky-clean?

If the thread is really dirty, you're not going get it back in with easy. Try to take it out and clean it up real well. Also press the upper balljoint into the knuckle as you turn your wrench (have another helper do this?) so the knuckle can hold the balljoint still.

This is why I dont suggest removing the upper balljoint when removing/installing springs. Some people insist on doing it this way and may find themselves in this kind of situation.

Sounds good--I'll try putting a jack under suspension in that corner for some pressure.

I tried avoiding this step, but when I pulled on the shock/spring, I wasn't able to get it out. Then after unbolting the balljoints, I realized I forgot to turn the wheels out when trying. Blast!

For anyone who is going to remove the old suspension, unbolt the 2 lower balljoint bolts (17mm). It will make your life a lot easier, especially when it comes to installing again. You can practically remove and install spring/coilovers for that particular front corner in 15 min or less. Some people have luck without having to remove anything, but when it comes time to install the OEM suspension, good luck
