kyb shocks are good.
they will not work with some tein or other branded coilovers. however, they will probably work with some tein or other branded springs...

Do you mean will they work with Tein or other branded springs? Coilovers are a complete assembly that include shocks already so if you bought these and then bought Tein coilovers these would be removed when you installed the Tein coilovers.

If you meant Tein or other branded springs then yes, these will work fine. Just so you know they aren't adjustable like some other shocks though, these are just a little bit firmer than stock but they can't be stiffened or softened like some other shocks, they are set as they come from the factory and thats it.

For reference:

Coilovers are on the left, springs are on the right.

You mean the coilover assembly is on the left. Springs on the right

Well you cant just buy coilovers without the shocks, it defeats the whole purpose of buying coilovers. Just buy springs and use the kyb shocks.

Your talking about Ground Control/OBX style coilovers. Those are just ebay junk, yes, they are "technically" a coilover but they are at the very very bottom end of the scale for this application. Either go with a known shock/spring setup such as Kyb shocks/Tein springs or go with a known coilover manufacturer, Tein, Jic etc...

If you are into performance you would be better off getting the full coilover setup as they are fully height and dampening adjustable. If you just want a drop and don't care as much about handling then save the $$$ and go with a spring/shock combo.

He got the Tein CS coilovers if I'm not mistaken. I've read his reviews of his setups a few times cuz it's a really good read! So good, that I decided on the espelir springs that he recommended for my own ride. Now I'm just trying to decide on KYB or Bilstein shocks. I went with the springs/shocks upgrade instead of coilovers for a few reasons, mainly keeping the cost down. But also because I don't need the adjustability of coilovers. I just wanted a slightly tighter ride for a daily driver.
