Default Anyone noticing grooves like this in their rotor?

My front driver's side rotor, at about 26k miles, with still 40 percent pads left up front. Normal?

Cool

I have noticed this as well. I went to the dealership and pointed it out to a service rep; he told me that it was because I was hitting the brakes too hard. I guess that makes sense. Right? Anyways, I went ahead and got new rotors; as he suggested it was best.

I noticed this on my passenger side today, however I didn't feel for how severe the grooves were. I only have about 6K miles on mine.

I don't see how this can be "hitting the brakes too hard", to me this is a clear indication of uneven wear across the width of the contact area (either by the pad or the rotor).

Again, if the grooves are more visible than felt, it might not be a big problem.

I hope you guys didn't pay for new rotors!? They should replace them for free! This is absurd!

You guys realize that it is because debri is stuck on the pad causing the rotor to groove like that? Blame the dealer, why?

I don't think debris that large would be able to get between the pad and the rotor.
More than likely, it's something that was mixed in with the pad compound material,
which would be a factory defect.

Just get some aftermarket BBK and get rid of the OEM set up

I'm kinda thinking the same thing. Have any of you noticed such grooves like this?

Also, if it were debris, how best would I remove it?

Service tech says whatever it is should be covered by warranty. Fingers crossed.

mine are similar, but afetr a few miles i dont believe rotors are flush flat anyway, so i would suspect it is normal.

problem is they have the disclaimer about rotors and pads wearing quickly, so i would imagine it would be difficult for a warranty repair.

Do you have any single larger grooves though? The picture is a bit out of focus, but the groove about an inch in from the outside of the rotor is significantly larger than any of the others...

What's the cause then of deep grooves? Dirt? Bad brake pad?

its the pad material, which is an aggregate of a handful of different materials some harder than others.
It's not a bad brake pad. I could run out in the garage and snap pics of 4 different rotors that are all grooved including the ones on the IS.

When you start getting a bad vibration when you apply the brakes or it starts to squeal, then go see your service writer...
