Knocking noise at front passenger side while driving at low speeds or turning
I am having a problem with the suspension on my 1999 Lexus GS 400. When im driving at low speeds or turning I hear a knocking noise on the front passenger side of my car. My car has 160k miles and is in very good shape if anyone has any solutions or has had similar problems please reply.

If the ball joints have never been replaced, this is a must-do!
If it still makes noise after replacing the ball joints, more than likely it
is the front struts. The 2GS is known to have noisy front struts when
they get a few miles on them... typically the struts only last about 100K
anyway, so if they've never been changed it should be done.

Last week I took it to the shop to get checked and he said everything looked okay
Last week I took it to the shop and they said everything looked okay. The ball joints are in very good condition. The only thing they could tell me was I could start by getting new strut bars for the front. Where would be a good place to order the strut bars from.

I dropped my car off today at my mechanic for a tire balance and he couldn't find anything either.. Of course this is how it goes.. LOL... We are going for a drive to see if i can make the noise when i drive..Its frustrating because i don't want to ruin anything or have something brake..

Yeah our 2000 GS300 is having the same problem. It only has 55k miles on it. It has Tein H-Tech springs on stock struts. I put it on a lift and we checked everything. Couldn't find any problem. I wanted to change the ball joints out just to be on the safe side because I read about all the horror stories.
So we did that and it doesn't do it as much anymore but it's still there. It used to be every bump in the road, speed bump or sharp turn. It was very loud and noticeable. Now it's more faint and more random. So we are going to change out the struts soon with ones more suited for aftermarket springs. Because lowering springs will cause stock struts to not last as long.

Hi guys!
Hello fro Latvia!
The same situation the same disgusting NOISE!
There was proposal from my dealer to change ball joints, struts and etc., but ... you can imagine a total cost for that "overhauling". Most stupidest is that that (in my fall) don't help at all!
After long seeking I found that NOISE gone 100% when I changed ... (its really unbelievable!!!) ... just front BRAKING PADS! I put there NONoriginal and noise is gone! Thats all!
Good luck!
