Default Lowering spring experience?

Hey guys, I'm considering buying some L-tuned springs on here (really great deal) but I want to know if anyone has had experience with using lowering springs on stock struts.

keep in mind, my car is an 01 with 123k, and the struts are OE, never been replaced.

I know that some of my buddies with different cars have lowered them without changing struts and ended up blowing a strut in a few weeks, so do you think it would be better to buy the springs and wait until i can afford new struts, or do you think i'd be alright?

also, how do your cars ride after lowering springs are installed? I LOVE how my GS3 rides, its smoother than silk, and I love the lowered look but I don't want to lose that gorgeous ride.

basically i'm f***ed 3 ways to the weekend on this issue and I'm looking for some direction from a wise yoda

rule of thumb: when changing springs, change shocks as well = save time and $$$. Nike

and come on now, you're not 'f**'. be nice to yourself, you have time to mod', be patient young Jedi

I used the Tanabe NF210's on Stock shocks, But I have new KYB GR2 shocks being delivered today. It has been about 4 months. I am hoping they will help with the ride. It is still smooth but it feels like the stock shocks are a little too weak to pair with slightly stiffer spring. Sometimes when going over speed bumps it almost feels like the shock doesn't slow the rebound enough before it gets to the spring and ends up a little more bouncy than I would like. And I only had 71k on mine when I put them on. I dont think you realize how soft and worn they are until you change the springs. I would go ahead and order some KYB GR 2's for $289 on ebay for all 4. There will be no additional labor to install.

I just replaced my springs and did the struts at the same time. When I removed the old struts, I pushed the strut shaft back into the strut body and had very little pressure left. In fact it took about 5 minutes for the strut to return to normal. My struts were the original ones from 2000, but the car only has 69,000 miles on it.

I recommend you change both at the same time. At least you won't have to worry about it for a couple of years.
