IS350 Owners with Sport Package
Can any of you who have an IS350 with the Sport Package give me a little info on how the ride quality is? I still haven't reached a decision on what to get, and I wanted to know if the sport suspension is a significantly rougher ride. Also, is the gain in handling considerably higher to offset any loss in ride quality?

Not rough at all....still VERY soft. Handling and feel is improved....but if you want a REAL handling car, ditch all that and get coilovers....There is another reason to get the sport package though....aluminum accents instead of wood. In my opinion its 1000 times better looking. You get EVERYTHING in the Lux package except the rear window shade and the wood. HIDs, pedals, power steering column, etc......all for less than the lux package, and the sport suspension to boot.

This is whats in the Sports Package:
Sport Package includes:
- Perforated leather-trimmed interior
- Power tilt-and-telescopic steering column
- Lexus Memory System for power driver's seat (except lumbar) outside mirrors and steering wheel
- Heated and ventilated front seats
- Aluminum sport pedals
- Aluminum doorsill scuff plates
- Rain-sensing intermittent windshield wipers with mist cycle
- Electrochromic (auto-dimming) outside mirrors with auto tilt-down in reverse
- Bi-xenon High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps
- Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS)
- Sport-tuned suspension
- 18 x 8.0-inch alloy wheels with 225/40YR18 tires front, 18 x 8.5-in alloy wheels with 255/40YR18 tires rear
Luxury Package with 18-in wheels includes:
- Auburn bird's-eye maple interior trim
- Perforated leather-trimmed interior
- Power tilt-and-telescopic steering column
- Lexus Memory System to control power driver's and front passenger's seats (except lumbar), outside mirrors and steering wheel
- Heated and ventilated front seats
- Illuminated doorsill scuff plates
- Power rear-window sunshade
- Rain-sensing intermittent windshield wipers with mist cycle
- Electrochromic (auto-dimming) outside mirrors with auto tilt-down in reverse
- Bi-xenon High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps
- Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS)
- 18 x 8.0-in alloy wheels with 225/40YR18 tires front, 18 x 8.5-in alloy wheels with 255/40YR18 tires rear
Only difference is the wood vs aluminum and the rear power shade. But with the Sport package you get aluminum pedals, and aluminum accents in addition to the suspension. Oh and its cheaper than the Lux package.

Sport Package is worthwhile. Many (most ?) owners don't want to fool around with aftermarket suspension bits (coilovers and such). That's hard to believe to many young squirts, but true. So in that regard the Sports Package will fit the bill.

But even if you do...its less expensive of a package than the lux and you get everything in it....except wood and shade....so even if I was going to swap out the springs and shocks, then its still financially better to get the sports package for the other options.

I'm rocking sport pack with other options. I love it. I sometimes wish I had a sportier suspension and sometimes it was softer so I'm content with what I have. I think the IS-F would be too stiff and I may not like it as much.
The only thing I've done to my sport pack was lower the front with 1/2" billet spacers on the front suspension and it made the wheel well gap even from front to rear.

That is very interesting and new to me. Can you elaborate? Where are the billet spaces in the front suspension that you swapped out? My buddy and I did the spring install ourselves and that was a real pain in the ****. My biggest gripe with the stock sport suspension is the front wheel gap is larger than the rear.

The lux package has a power rear sunshade... I'm not sure anyone in history has ever used it, but it's the one "significant' thing you get for your extra $500 with the Lux package in exchange for not getting the sport suspension or pedals (with the wood/al trim difference being a wash depending on which you think looks better)
Also of note- the Sport package description above is an older copy... the current one on Lexus.com says the sport package gets
"Illuminated doorsill scuff plates"
just like the Lux package.
Now, mine still didn't have them. And my understand is none of them do.
But lexus.com says you should (at least for 08) so if you have an 08 sport package car feel free to call Lexus and ask them where your illuminated scuff plates are
(that's how I got my set free)
