Question Brake upgrade

I'm planning to do a big brake upgrade and i just wanted to make sure that the aftermarket brakes are gonna fit my car before i buy them. does anyone know if the brake set up on the 98-00 gs400 is identical to the one on a 2001 gs 430? i'm crossing my fingers that the answer is yes. hope someone can help.

ry,

What rims do you have? The first thing before you go with a brake upgrade is to find out if the calipers and the rotor assembly will fit over your rims. That should decide for you right then and there whether to go with a brake upgrade. If you are running stock 16" rims then it is not possible. If you are running stock 17" then it is only possible with wheel spacers and you are limited to the Supra brake upgrade. Even if you have 18-20" rims you have to make sure the offset of your rim allows for clearance. I'd say start there and work your way forward...

hey brent,
thanks for the info. rite now i'm running 19" wheels and i'm almost positive that the brake kit will fit my car. the brake kit is specified to for the gs400, so now i just need to find out if the set up on a gs430 is identical to the one on the 98-00 gs400.

Well, that part I can tell you for sure is not problem. If it will fit on the GS400 then it will fit on the GS430. You should still check the offset of your rims to verify that the rotors and calipers will clear. Better to be absolutely sure rather than regret it later...

if not, you can just shave off the calipers! which is not recommended.
