Had the same problem and replaced the front lower ball joints. Now it's gone. How many miles on your car?

Thanks 400. I read another post on this site and I think you are right. I will now shop around for the ball joints.

How much do you think they will cost me?
Would this be something I can do myself?
Also would there be anything else that could be wrong

I just ordered from TM engineering LLC

They will cost $60-70 per side. If you purschase them from our sponsor Sewell Lexus you can add a code for 15% off the total.

Should not take more than an hour total for a shop to do. I paid $75 to have mine installed and saved me the time and headache.

The ball joints should cost the same each side..

You need this:
http://www.lexus-parts.com/parts_det...id=90178&all=Y

If you look there is also a DIY write-up here on the forum for the GS.

It could be several things, I have some kind of rattling/creaking/thumping sound coming from my right front suspension area. I have asked several mechanics to check the lower ball joints and they said they are fine so it may not be your ball joints. It could be strut mounts that need retorqued/lubed, sway bar may need to be torqued and lubed, front stabilizer bar may need to be retorqued-that helped my problem a little but it is back and louder, another possibility is from TSBSU004-02 which had something to do with front springs/shocks which is what they told me yesterday but they wanted $265 to fix it which was way too much and I'll live with the thud/creaking noise when going over bumps.

I am going crazy with this rattling sound.

I replaced the front struts; No difference
I installed newe steering wheel and stabilizer bushings; No difference
I installed the drivers side lower ball joint and control arm; No difference

I still need to install the right side but honesly I dont think is going to make a difference.

When I replaced the front struts the strut mount seem fine. I will try to retorque them .. but what do you mean lube them?

What do you mean with this. What does it mean? TSBSU004-02

I read this on another post.....but did you check your brake calipers/pads or something along those lines? I hear they can be loose and cause noise.

Good Luck,

I think little by little I will end up replacing the entire front end of my car. This friday or Saturday I will continue on my quest on finding this mysterious rattling.

Yep, my castor arm bushings are worn. I just ordered the daizen control arm bushings from TM Engineering this Monday.

I had a shop inspect my front end and he checked all control arm and castor arm bushings. He said the castor arm bushings were pretty much worn out and hence making all that clunking noise.
I also replaced my ball joints a while ago.

The clicking sound coming from the brake is apparent when you're driving forward after reversing or by initially stepping on the brake is caused the free-floating design of the brake pad. The temporary fix was to regrease it.

However, after a new brake job with new pads, the clicking never came back.
Must've been a new pad that the dealer are using that is helping.

I inspected the castor arm and it looks good. Maybe I dont know what to look for. but It looked in perfect condition. The rubber was intact. Not tears or cracks. I grabbed on to it and tried to move it and it was very firm.

I think the rattling is coming from something loose on the brakes. I deff need new rotors. Can that be the problem.

I am noticing the the stearing shakes a little from around 60 to 65 mph. I hear different things on what this problem can be including the castor arm.

umnn. any suggestions.
