Brake problem now WTF
 

So did my front brakes, which was really easy but now what. So I brake fine at normal speeds but when I slow down I can heir a scraping or ginding sound on my pass side. It only happens when I am at a slow stop or when I'm going down a small hill where there is more pressure.

What may be the problem.

1. I was an idiot and lost one of the pad v clips, there's two that hold the pads together. So only one is on. Could that be it?

I just couldn't imagine missing one little piece of wire could be making this sound.

2. I took the pads off after a couple of days driving and there is more wear on the inside. Is my rotor warped and would that make the sound?

I'm confused and don't know what else I can do. Iv'e taken them off and inspected about 4 times now. WTF

1. the clips are anti-squeal clips. It's what pulls the pad away from the rotor when you're not applying the brake. If you're getting some noise while applying the brakes, then the clips should be irrelevant. To test it, take one clip from the driver side and put it in the passenger side caliper. Drive around and see if the noise is still on the same side or not. Most grinding noises are from the pad touching the rotor. It could be that your rotors and/or pads or not smooth.

2. If there is more wear inside, make sure the caliper bolts are not stuck. I dont remember what my pad looked like but I believe my inside wore out quicker too. Dont hold me on that though because I dont remember.

if yuo didnt have those clips then the pad could have just been laying on the rotor while yuo drive. thus glazing the rotor and making the contact all weird when yu push the brakes.

sounds like yuo need to get the clips and resurface yoru rotors...maybe new pads

It was the v clips, only had one on. wow didn't think it would be that sensitive. Anyways works fine now. Yeah!!!!

just fyi.......all cars will wear out the inside of the pad first! Just the way it works.
