Default Supra TT 4 corner AP Racing 6 Piston / 4 Piston BBK adapted to the 2GS

Well hope I didn’t overstate that claim, but since AP Racing does not offer a rear BBK kit for the 2Gs, I am assuming my statement to be true.

I’ve got about 35 hours so far doing the R & D to fabricate a custom kit to fit 4 piston Brakes on the rear of my GS.

Though they look done, I only have the current install to display for the SEMA show in Vegas. When the car returns, I’ll have to tear it all down and then make the fourth (and hopefully) final version of the mounting bracket. Some brake testing and evaluation to come some time after this project is completed.

The front brakes installed pretty easily.
Specifications are:
- 6 piston calipers – 6 sequential pistons to minimize pad taper and maximize pad area
- High Strength., Light Weight, Pressure-cast aluminum alloy body
- 2 piece design for maximum rigidity compared to monoblock designs

- 355 mm 2 piece modular design rotors with aluminum alloy hat to handle the heat
- Cross drilled AND slotted for aggressive pad bite and additional surface cooling, for best street performance
- Curved vanes for maximum cooling

- Mintex Xtreme brake pads
- Virtually fade free
- Consistent coefficient of friction from cold to over 1300 degrees F
- Lowest noise

Take a look at the chamfered cross drilled holes.

This minimizes the possibility of stress cracking, while providing
real cooling functionality. These holes aren’t just “For Looks”

Rear Brakes

Here’s a comparison of the AP Racing brake pad versus the stock pads. The surface area is more than twice the size of stock.

Here’s the 4 piston AP Racing caliper compared to the 2 piston Stock caliper.

Rear Caliper Installed

Rear Brake Specifications are:
- 4 piston calipers to minimize pad taper and maximize pad area
- High Strength, Light Weight, Pressure-cast aluminum alloy body
- 2 piece design for maximum rigidity compared to monoblock designs

- 325 mm 2 piece modular design rotors with aluminum alloy hat to handle the heat
- Cross drilled AND slotted for aggressive pad bite and additional surface cooling, for best street performance
- Curved vanes for maximum cooling
- Rear rotor Hat designed to retain the parking brake function

- Mintex Xtreme brake pads
- Virtually fade free
- Consistent coefficient of friction from cold to over 1300 degrees F
- Lowest noise

Goodridge Brake Lines
- Braided Steel
- Teflon lined for a smooth consistent feel

Weight Comparisons
Stock Caliper & Pads = 6 lbs. AP Racing Caliper & Pads = 7 lbs.
Stock Rotor = 13 lbs AP Racing rotor = 16 lbs

Final Notes: This Rear Brake set up was Designed to work properly with the Front Brake set up. This is not an overkill rear cosmetic set up like what some other brands have been reported to sell. The 6 piston 355mm front will provide a BALANCED brake bias with these rear 325mm brakes. AP Racing designs their brake systems so that there will be NO issues with factory master cylinders, ABS, traction control or OEM vehicle stability control systems.

To that point, do note that in the rear, I am running 20 x 11 inch wide rims on 295 wide Michelin PS2 tires. I can say with some level of confidence, that the stock puny rear brakes are undersized for this set up. Anyone running a staggered tire set up with 275 or larger tires, will probably be fine with this rear BBK set up.

AP Racing is very well known for providing brake systems for all forms of motorsport including NASCAR, American LeMans, Grand Am, World Rally Championship, Touring Car and Formula One.

Some other brake brands are known primarily for their use in drifting. You can be the judge on who’s credentials are more respectable.

Special Thanks to CL Vendor EXACT MOTORSPORTS for giving me a deal on these brakes and making this 2 year dream a reality.

It will be ATLEAST 2 months from now before I can perform any real world braking tests, so please be patient.

Remember that this prototype is still being developed further and it has to be structurally verified for strength and durability, before I can put the brakes through some more rigorous testing.

I won't even have my car back in my hands until it comes back from SEMA on the second week of November.

Then there's the winter weather that may prohibit me from doing any reliable testing.

In the mean time here’s what the Finished Product will look like:

Very nice Glen! Cant wait to see them in person. It was nice to be there when you were first test fitting them... its certainly a long and stressful process. But i had no doubt in my mind that you'd make it work. Props to Glen!
