Thumbs up CHEAP LS400, IS300 Brakes

Those of you watching my posts have seen me accomplish some mods on the cheap. Here's another:

The LS400 fronts were bought from a local parts store (members on the board told me they wouldn't have them. They did. Then members told me they would be big single piston they weren't as you can see).

LS400: 50 plus trade in core. Here's the thing: I gave them my cores from my stcok sc300. They took them. They have no idea thatthere's a difference. You may not have this luck...but I bet you will. Anyway, WITHOUT the core they're 90...still a great bargain. They bolt right up.

Now the rears. I bought IS300 rears off ebay after two board members said they bolted right up (in all fairness neither member had done it). They DO NOT bolt right up. I made a simple bracket which can be picteured if anyone wants me to. These were 120 from ebay.

One broke after a fluke highway debris accident, and I again went to Advance auto and paid 80 (came with brake pads) plus 40 for the core. Again, I gave them my stock core. Worked p[erfectly.

Then I went to R1 concepts (on ebay) and talked them down for stock ZINC-plated rotors: an amazing $150 SHIPPED. They are not slotted and dimpled (which I believe warp rotors).

So: 100 for the LS400s, 120 for the IS300s, 150 for the rotors. A grand total of 370 SHIPPED.

Enjoy.

Here's some sdvice on the brake lines: Our stockers bolt right in, but the reach is slightly different for all four rotors. There is a tab on each brake line that must be removed (or just tapped in, it can stay as mine did) so you can better position the line. This tab can simply be tapped out using a hammer while holding the brake line steady. I did this (the whole brake procedure) while NOT disconnecting the brake line.

Front rotors are for LS400, rear rotors are for IS300.

are the rears 2 piston or larger or what? Never heard anything of the IS300's.

So you got 4 piston calipers from the autostore? amazing.

The rears are from the IS300 (two piston), the fronts are from the LS400. Both calipers were available from the local auto parts store.

Well...this is also a mod. I thought the general section would be better especially since everyone will benefit from a 370 brake mod.

Hey thanks. The bracket was made in anger after I found out I needed to make them, which would consume a better part of th e weekend so they are not pretty. However, I did make a flawed one and will pic it for you tomorrow.
