Unhappy L-tuned Install Question

I have a pair of l-tuned shocks and springs i wanted to get them installed by lexus however the three lexus dealers in my area said they will not do it. The reason they gave me is that they do not want to mess with the stock suspension. So i asked around and the toyota dealer around the corner from my house agreed to do it. My question for all of you is: Is this a good idea, do you think it will be done properly. Oh and they quoted me 665 for the job but i forgot to tell them about my lower ball joints that i want changed.

Find some other mechanic to do the job. I bet you can find a local shop that will do it for you for $300-400. It shouldn't take more than 5 hours to do the job..Unless Toyota is charging over $100 per hour, i say $665 is overpriced.

And I really dont see why your lexus dealer can't install them. L-tuned is backed my Lexus. L-tuned parts were sold from the dealer as options. Your Lexus dealer must not know about L-tuned then..

find someone on the forum that can help you do it. pay them a little something instead of the dealership. damn 665 to install some shocks and springs is a lot.

Wouldn't go to a dealership for a drop. You local mechanic should be able to handle... no problem

Thanks for the advice I thought that price was kinda high. Also I told lexus that they are lexus parts I got them from sewell lexus so there shouldn't be a problem. But I think I will try to find a mechanic. I would pay a club member but I don't know if there's anyone near me.

I have been shopping around for install quotes on springs and shocks also. My Lexus dealer said they would do it for $600 and that includes alignment.

So I was curious what the Toyota dealer charges for they're hourly rate. So I gave them a call and guess what... this was a shock to me

Toyota rate $95 hour
Lexus rate $95 hour

Toyota dealer actually quoted me $100 more for install. I guess they're not as quick working on the Lexus.

I dont think Toyota can set their labor rate beyond lexus's labor rate. It should only be about $85/hr I think.

Lots of members have installed the L-tuned S/S themselves, including myself. My labor cost was $100.00, granted my Brother helped. I wouldn't recommend doing it youreself if you don't feel comfortable and do not have the correct spring compressors. Don't know if you've searched the forum for DIY L-tuned S/S installation. Good luck. The Dealer wanted to charge me $685.00 2 years ago.

I was quoted $270 just last week at a shop to do install my shocks and lowering springs. The dealer (Lexus or Toyota) was NEVER an option at all mainly cuz of the astronomical price I was going to hear that's if they were going to do it.
