Stoptech Stage 2 Brake swap, opinions please!!!
Im long overdue for a brake job, and being the poor college student that i am, i cant afford to go all out and buy a big brake kit, eventhough i would love to, so this is what i had in mind. http://www.stoptech.com/products/sta...upgrades.shtml Stage 2 looks pretty complete, pads would be the Axxis Ultimates w/ slotted rotors, everthing I wanted to do initially, $700 shipped is a pretty good deal compared to buying Brembos/Rotoras separately plus lines and pads! Does anybody have any info on this, any bad experiences, suggestions, better alternatives, anything! Please chime in!

Be aware that although the Ultimates are great for stopping, they also produce lots of dust and noise. They wear on the rotors more and needs some warm up time before they really work.
I have StopTechs so I am definitely not a StopTech hater. With that said, for the price, I'd look into getting a BBK setup with used TTs or LS calipers.

Well like i said money is the key factor here, I would love a bbk but just cant do it right now and i dont feel comfortable purchasing a set of used calipers! I had the ultimates on my old Integra and they stopped great and you are right they are dusty and they squeak a lot, so with that being said should I go with some other kind of pads, like the Akebono or Hawk ceramics? Im in a dilemma with this, I need to order this stuff soon before i go metal to metal.

I was under the impression that the deluxe would be a downgrade from the ultimate? How about the Hawk Ceramics, has anybody had any experience with those?

In a sense, yes. The compound is different, softer. It is better on the rotors, quiet, and less dust. I "downgraded" to the deluxe when I got my StopTech BBK and am happy with them for daily driving. I know bitkahuna and redgs4 had the ultimates with their StopTech BBKs and did not like them. They "downgraded" to the Metal Masters (in between Ultimates and Deluxe Plus) and they seemed happier. You might want to PM them for specifics.

Thanks for your input guys, just to update the thread, I went ahead and ordered a completely different set up! I went with the Brembo slotted rotors and Akebono pads with Goodridge brake lines! All this stuff will be here on Wednesday, ill post again once i get it installed with a comparison vs. stock etc.

Well I got all the parts through my buddy who works for Tire Kingdom. They get all the parts from Tire Rack at a discount, but they have to mark it up 10% and taxes also have to be paid, which ends up costing less than regular. Everything ended up costing me around $630 out the door, which is pretty good considering that I would have paid at least $700 getting all the parts myself. You may want to check nopionline.com as well, they are pretty competitive as far as prices go, and service gets a from me!
