Default Brake Fluid Question

I am about to put my Supra/RMM big brake kit on this weekend and have a brake fluid question. I plan on changing out the front brakes so I will need to bleed the brakes. My first question is, do I just have to bleed the brakes I am changing? The second question may be a bit dumb. I bought 3 quarts of ATE Super Blue brake fluid. If I have to just bleed the front brakes and not the rear I should most likely go buy some OEM fluid? Is this correct? So, if I want to use the new ATE Super Blue I will need to do a complete bleed of the original fluid? Hopefully someone will understand what I am asking .

i would bleed the whole systerm, front AND back. you never know if any of teh bubbles got pulled to the lines going to the back of the car. and make sure you use the right sequence to bleed it

i *think* 3 quarts is enough to bleed the whole system. i can't remember, last time i used a bit more than 1L to bleed mine?

Agree with rominl - bleed the entire system. It's pretty easy. Three quarts should be more than enough. I used one quart of clear OTC fluid to flush--just not bleed--my GS in January. Since you're switching to a new color, you'll be pretty safe with three quarts.

Extreme care must be exercised when switching brake fluid to synthetic. It's different from motor oil.

All traces of the old fluid types need to be cleaned and removed prior to using the synthetic, which is DOT 5.

Research will show the boiling point of the synthetic is very high, ment for track use where extreme braking tempertures exist.

I was not able to get it done this past weekend. I asked a friend to stop by to help me bleed the brakes and he could not make it. Hopefully I can get it done tomorrow. I will take a bunch of pictures for you Jeff. I am getting real tired of looking at my new brakes sitting on my work bench. I want them on my car now. I may take half the day off tomorrow to do it.

A little reminder on pad lubrication, for a satisfactory installation.

An additional tip from others is to turn on the ignition so the ABS pump runs while bleeding takes place.

Hey, if you need any help with it. Just give me a call or something. I've done brakes on my car at least 4 times already....lol. I even bleed it by myself. Unscrew bleeder, run to seat, pump pedal a few times, haul *** back to the wheel, and tighten the bleeder It's worked just fine for me
