Default teins flex ???

quick question to tein flex owners

on the bottom adjustment on the shock body which sets pre load , do you have it all the way down to the bottom or where to you have it set.. this also establishes shock travel

The bottom part of Tein Flex adjust hight only without changing pre-load.
Pre-load is adjsted by compresing spring more or less, whatever you like or preffer. Changing pre-load means:
Adjusting "stiffnes" and height at the same time, so what i would sugest, is:
1. Find your comfort zone by compresing or decompresing spring
2. Adjust your height with bottom part of coilover

Result: comfort you want and drop you like

Remember!!!!! Shock must be at least 1.75''-2'' down in bottom part (shell) to operate safely, if it sits in more than 2'' it doesn't matter how low you'll go. Also, bottom adjustment doesn't establish shock travel, pre-load does. For example: stiffer spring = less travel, softer spring = more travel. More travel is not good, you're running into risk of bottoming out the shock, which might cause damage

Hope it helps a bit

so to maintain full shock travel for better ride only adjust bottom , once installed can height be changed from bottom adjustment without removing assembly , just by cranking up or down lower collar

Thats correct, you can change height without removing whole assembly, i have done it many, many times. Keep threaded part oiled as well

Yes they are preset, but the level of comfort might not be suitable for your needs. Anyway, after installation you can change to whatever you want, so no worries. Tein Flex gives you so many setup options, thats unbelivable what you can achieve with them.

I've switched Flex to CS few months ago and must say, i miss Flex alot

I installed my Flex last week and I didn't mess with the pre load. I left it the way they came and set the dampening to 8 for now and lowered the "shock" into the lower sleeve. Now it rides damn lot and feels as comfy as stockl .

and don't worry, those track wheels were only on for measuring for my new wheels, even though I thought they looked good.

Yes it is. You can uncompress the spings all the way and your car will feel like a boat. The other way will make it really stiff.

One advice is when changing your spring rate make sure you have the same settings on all the shocks.

Default Tein Flex Coilovers?

Ed, the guy's are telling you right! I never adjusted the preload setting since installation and alway's made the adjustments from the bottom for ride height! Remember with the added EDFC you will be able to control the dampening to your comfort! Let me know how you like the set up once you get it buttoned up! I started with the Flex coilovers and love them and everyone I know that went from Flex to CS say that they miss the sporty stiff feel the Flex gave to the ride? I'm keeping my Flex coilovers with the EDFC!

I am one of those people. I went from Flex, to CS, to JIC FLT-A2's. Love the JIC's. The have a pillowball mount but not as noisy as the Flex.
