Default Ceramic Brake Pads

I know everybody pretty much agree's that the brake dust that these cars emit is pretty ridiculous . I spoke to several people about the problem and they recommended that I try ceramic brake pads. I found a company that sells the brake pads for are cars.

Here is the link tell me what you guys think if it is worth it or not. I really cannot stand all the brake dust especially from the front.

I feel ya on this one...Looking at changing my pads because of the dust....Not sure about the ones you posted, but I'm sure you'll find what you need....I'm at the point where the cost don't really matter too much, I just want the dust to go away......

I dont really want to spend money on new brake pads especially on a new car but I will if I can find a set that would decrease the amount of brake dust that this car exhibits. I washed the car the other day took the car to Home Depot about 4 miles away and the brake dust that was on the front wheels was just hideous, on a brighter note at least the rears are not that bad.

take the wheels off, give it a nice wash..
and put some wax on it.

WAX will make wheel cleaning alot easier, but this trick only last for 2 to 3 months.

only other problem with Ceramic pads, they are very hard for your stock rotors, you might want to consider about it.

if you don't need extra braking power, I will recoment using stock pads.

Does the front brake dust problem get better (less dusty) after a few thousand miles? Mine has only 512 miles, and the brake dust is still there.

I dont know for a fact but I think that what you see is what you get. My car has about 1200 miles on it and it did not get any better in terms of brake dust. I do like the fact that the car stops on the dime though

I just switched to ceramics on my bmw and i noticed a difference immediately, i highly recommend switching them........i would clean them and in a few hours of driving the would be covered in brake dust.....not only does it look like crap but i read somewhere that metals in the brake pads will corrode your rims if the brake dust is left on there.....

On my previous car i also had heavy dust accumalation but switched to Hawks HPs which reduced the dusting siginificantly. With the IS being new there arent any pads as of yet but im sure we're all keeping an eye out on one. I feel its worth the new pads because i also get annoyyed at the dusting after a few miles of driving

Yes, EBC Red Stuff is the way to go if you want reduced brake dust. The pads are designed for highly tuned cars and some track use. Andy (from EBC) and I have been e-mailing back and forth. He said Red Stuff is the way to go. It produces 50% less dust than OEM. He said braking performance is the same as stock. EBC has model #s already for the IS but stores do not carry them yet. I'll be checking back in June or July. They are new and I don't know if I want to be the first one to use them. Hopefully, someone will install it and post what they think.

I guess the general consensus is that the ceramic brake pads would definately make a difference. I guess I need to be the guinea pig .

I never tried the Red Stuff, but I can tell you the Green Stuff throws as much if not more dust than the stock ones we have.

I had the green stuff on my IS300, and in one day, my rims were dirty.

There is a Akebono ceramic pad review in the Tire Rack Wheel & Brakes forum. I don't know if they make pads for the 2IS.
