Anyone tried or have any opinions on the KYB GR-2 Shocks/Springs combo on eBay?

I have the shocks I am happy with them but dont know anything about KYB springs. I wouldnt get it from ebay. A couple of years ago I got some KYB shocks from ebay and one was bad. It took a long time to get a replacement and it was bad as well. Better off getting it through someone you can take them back to if any problems.

How about one of the l-tuned set ups? Vendors here on the CL could help you out.

Alright......good shocks.........no ebay!
Thanks.....tkracing.
It seems pretty impossible right now to get anything Ltuned......let alone shocks and springs....I have to wait till someone gets tired of theirs.
Any other suggestions?
hmmmmmmmm..........
I only need an inch drop....maybe inch and a half front........

L-tuned shocks are rebadged kyb-gr2s.
i don't know about the springs though. Someone will chime in.
Yes, check with the vendors or go to the classifieds.

Default My recommendation

Tanabe NF210 springs give a slight 5% increase in stiffness while lowering the car 1.5 inch in front and 1 inch in the back. Carson Toyota/l-tunedparts.com is selling them.

They should be paired with either KYB GR-2 shocks or Bilstein HD shocks. I initially had Bilstein Sports with my Tanabe NF210 -- the handling was great but the ride was too bumpy for me so I switched to KYB.

If I had to do it over again, I would choose the Bilstein HD to match my springs--in fact I just got a good quote from my local Bilstein dealer--much better than the internet prices but not applicable to your region unfortunately.

Bilstein HD have lifetime warranty so you need not fear ordering from ebay. These are the best online price I found(after several hrs of searching):

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BILST...spagenameZWDVW

Shipping is free!

Just an interesting observation -- Bilstein Japan offers only Bilstein HD and not the Bilstein Sports for the GS in the Japanese market --- one of the most critical and fussy consumer markets in the world. Also the Bilstein HD costs almost 1.5X the price of the Sports.

My take on this is that it is harder and more expensive to design both well-handling AND comfortable shocks than just to manufacture a shock for pure handling alone.

Slightly off the topic, not meaning to steal your thread though...

Do you guys know if KYBs will handle my Tanabe DF210's 1.5-2" drop, or Bilstein is the only option for me? (I'm running on stock 16" wheels)

Thank you.

Those specific shocks are designed with sports rideing in mind. I think those shocks will handle any spring set up except coilovers. My .02cents.

i'm currently running bilstein HD's on OEM springs. the HD's are meant for oem springs since they have a longer shaft, same length as the oem shocks. however, from what i heard, the HD's can also be used with lowering springs if you move the rings down lower. there are "ring clips" on the shock bodies that can be adjusted depending on ride height, imho.

the HD's are very controlled for driving, however, on bad roads, you will feel the road. on smooth roads, they are very comfortable. if you try pushing down the car, you will notice the car doesn't move easily and doesn't bounce, compared to oem. the shocks are stiff, yet they were made for oem style springs and direct oem replacement.
