Default wheel bearing noise?? Please help asap

I am doing a brake job on my 1993 lexus gs300. once I removed all of the front brakes including rotor, I grabbed the hub and spun it by hand. When you are rotating it, it makes some noise. It is not like CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK, but it is definately an audible noise with a click to it.

?----Is this normal, or have these bearings finally failed?? Both sides do it, so I thought i better ask before i replace them. Also, does anyone know the size of nut on the front wheel bearing locknut?? To me , these should rotate with no noise at all. Car is torn apart and i need it to drive which is the only reason I put asap. Thanks guys

I had a bad wheel bearing on the rear right on my old 95 corolla. So from my experience, it made a loud tire tread noise like those lifted trucks with the big wheels. However, the noise went away when I make right and left turns, but still there in straight drivings. The mechanic put it on lift, spin the rear wheels and you can a scratchy metal on metal sound on THAT side only, not the other one.
So if you were to spin your wheels, they should not make a noise.

The mechanic said a culprit could be water getting in and drying out the grease, something like that
b/c I do remember there are times when it rains, the car is parked in where the rain water
rises

Not sure if that will help you

Open it up, knock out the grease seal and inspect the bearings. Clean and regrease with a molybdenum disulfide (NLGI No. 2) lithium-base wheel bearing grease. Install new grease seals and preload the bearings.
I would not ignore it at this time of year...
