For replacing the factory shocks, which is the best for the GS400 ..... the "Bilstein Sport" or the "Bilstein Heavy Duty"??????

Whichever one you decide to get, I think gs4will or one of the members can get you the set for $425 or $450 shipped to the house. I think that is a much better deal. I hope I did not misrepresent the price. If I did, I apologize, but I hope that helps.

I had used Bilstein Sport Shocks for quite a while and I highly recommend that.

Best bet is to ask gs4will.

Hi Bob,

if you want to go for the Bilsteins, it would be the SPORT models that all the members use. the prices from "eshocks" is ~$465 to your door.

i can have a set shipped to you for $425.

i just called their toll-free #s and was informed that they are out-of-stock. these shocks are very popular now, so expect a wait of ~2 weeks. that is the time frame i was promised by Bilsteins too.

if you are not in a hurry, and would like to get them from me, please send me a PM, or lexusbill@clublexus.com.

thank you. and thanks AP and D-man for the referral.

My TTE coilover Bilsteins seems to be #2787. There's a TO after the number which I assume means that they are custom made for Toyota.

Overtaxed, those tte coilovers how much they run ya? Also whats the max drop that you can have on that?

thanks man.

Overtaxed 07-07-01 10:10 AM

Diesel,

They set me back about $1150. I believe they cost more in the US.

Max drop is 50 mm (1.96 inch). The pic is from my front were I have a 1.8 inch drop. You can clearly see the thread used to set the height and that there's not much left.

I used to have the Bilstein Sports also. The regular Bilstein coilovers go for around $1600-1800, I believe.

Bilstein Coilovers.....

I have Bilstein Coilovers in my car and they adjust about 2" in the front and 2.5" in the rear. The ride is very comfortable it is stiffer than stock but not to much also the handling is much better than just springs and shocks. You can adjust it lower but you will have to take the helper springs out but they are fully compressed anyways. You probably can get another half inch or a little more out them if you do that. I think they ride better than Teins. I can get them for $1700 retail is $2100. If any one is intrested call me 650-869-6800 MAS Wheelhouse. If you are just using Bilstein shocks get the sports heavy duty is like a stock application.

if TEIN HA is too stiff for you, you could always try TEIN CS. I believe they are better than Bilstein coilover and much cheaper. For TEIN HA, $1150ish shipped, and for TEIN CS, around $1500 shipped. Several CL members have TEIN CS and the comfort level is pretty good (as I heard).

Mbanks: Welcome to ClubLexus!

I know you're new and may not have noticed that the thread you're responding to is from over two years ago in 2001. Please check the date of the stuff you're reading before you post a response... some old stuff is best just left untouched IMO (like this for example).

I suspect the PSS's were very new at that time and probably WERE listed at $1700. I recently bought a set of them myself for $850.

Yeah I know, I was searching for threads on Bilstein and didnt even think to look at the date :egads:
