Default cleaning grime off teins before install...

hi guys so i just got a set of used tein coilvers. i read on their site that the threads should be cleaned off, free from debris that can ruin the threading. im wondering would it be ok to spray the coilovers with a pressure washer from the carwash? i figured rain water and other liquids are exposed to the coilover i see no harm in pressure washing it from a safe distance. so whats the verdict?

edit: i will relube the threads and what ever else you guys reply with... thanks in advance

edit: changed wording so ppl know i bought coilovers not springs

oh sorry i misunderstood. umm..... you got the tein cs right? supposedly it's better already coz' it's aluminum which is more resistent to water.

if i were you, i mght actually just use some wet paper to wipe it off. and then at most use some alcohol solution to clean it up

clean off the residue with brake cleaner. spray on, use an old toothbrush and work the threads and wipe off. make sure you lube the thread sleeve with some water resistant lube so it won't wash off when it rains. not too much lube as it attracts road grime. lube the area where the nut is going to be set.

I've always used simple green and a brush. Works wonders.

go to your favorite boating supply store and ask for marine grease. it should be water resistant so it last long. if you want to go with other types, go for it.
