I just ordered my tires finally, 245-35-20 Nitto 555 and I am going to lower it in the next few weeks with the H&R/Bilstein combo. I was wondering, when I have the car aligned with the 20s, will I have a problem when I switch back to the 225-55-16 rim and tire for the winter? The height of the car will be different if that matters? What do you all think...

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,

you will not have "problems". but i would certainly do the alignmnet again when you change them back to 16s for the winter. for ~$60, it is worth it. just make sure you go to a good shop. when ever you are ready just let me know on the bilsteins. thanks.

I would definately do the alignment after you switch back to 16" for the winter. The reason being, like you said, the car will be at different height than with your 20s. You would at least have the get your camber adusted because your camber would be set to the 20s.

Andy...Thanks again for the infornation! I will definitely will realign the car before each change, just have to find a good shop. Would the lexus dealership be able to do this? I am sure they don't like cars riding on 20s becuase of suspension issue, especially aftermarket. I will manage though.

Yes you should get it re-aligned. The biggest problem you'll have though is the laughter from others seeing a lowered GS riding on 16s, particularly those who have seen it riding on 20s!

LOL...You have a point there...LOL...What do you think of some stock painted 17" wheels with snow tires?...lol...yeah...it is probably going to look a bit odd....:)

Snows on 17s would look better of course. Seriously though, I wouldn't worry... in Michigan's crappy winter cars aren't in a beauty contest. Stick with the 16's.
