Default So Long to the "Float"...

...Just installed a set of Bilstein Sport Shocks and H&R Springs!

I am definitely pleased with the improved handling and "near-stock" ride. The H&R springs lowered my car approximately 1.5" all around, which has greatly improved the appearance since installing 18" wheels earlier in the month.

Now I need to figure out what to do with the stock springs...

Just my two cents...

Default It's Good To Have Mechanic Friends...

...He manages an import repair shop and had one his guys perform the install for $200. Not bad considering the local dealer wanted more than twice what I paid.

I will post some photos soon...

Were you thinking about the Eibach Pro-Kit springs as well or did you know you wanted H&R springs from the get go? I'm just wondering because I'm about to put the eibach/bilstein setup on my car.

Thanks.

Default Which Shock? Which Springs? Argghhh....

Yes, I entertained the Bilstein / Eibach setup as well as using Tein springs and even the complete L-Tuned setup.

In the end, I liked the amount of drop and the quality of the H&R springs. I believe the Eibach springs lower 1.2" front and rear; however, with the H&R I have about 1.5" of lowering. Not much, but I think just right.

Good luck with your car!

Nice upgrade, congrats. As far as what to do with stock springs/shocks, I dunno - I'm thinking of dumping mine...

I've got the stock springs/shocks in my garage that are just taking up space. I don't think anyone wants them (I tried selling before I think) and I don't expect to ever put them back on the car.

Put in CL classified or E-bay. Give em away FREE, charge $10 for handling, and buyer pays shipping. End of proble, I think you could get rid of them that way if they are just taking up space...In the E-bay auction, have the auction for the handling fee..shocks are free.....I've done that before to clear stuff out of my garage I was going to throw out, and made a couple of bucks in ther process..Try it!

You know I thought about that. I know rates are cheaper in California, but up here in Seattle it would end up costing me $500 or so to put the old shocks and springs back on.
(My guy takes longer than 1 hr).
Now once I factor in what I could sell the used coilovers for it gets to the point where it is hardly worth the hassle of taking the car to the shop and waiting and waiting for them to finish the change over.
I just had them throw the stock springs and shocks away when I had my coilovers installed.
Same thing when I got the new exhaust put on. Threw the old one in the dumpster
Same thing when install sways. toms braces etc. threw the old stuff away.
I have saved two items the stock differential and the stock torqueconverter. I'm not really sure it would make sense to put the stock TC back in as that would be pretty much all day job and cost $500 plus and all I could get out of used TC might be $600-700.

I just hate storing that kind of stuff I guess it makes sense if you can get it put on and taken off cheap and fast.
