Contemplating the purchase of the Strut tower bar...quick question....for 4.0 V8, do you remove the existing plates? Or leave em on when mounting the TRD STB?

Removed mine. Had trouble getting it on with them in place but I would have liked a little more gap between the bar and the engine cover. I remember reading on another thread that they are suppost to come off but I don't know why it would be necessary unless slipage or performance is a concern.
