Tein CS coilovers

Gixer,
Who did you order yours from? Todd at TM, or Steve at Carson? I got an email from Steve today, after I inquired about them. He said he sold the last CS set last week, but would have more in at the end of the month. He offered me the chance to reserve a set. So apparently he expects enough to fulfill all current orders if he's taking more reservations on the same lot. Also, in regards to who has the best price, the price Steve quoted me was only a dollar more than TM. So far, I've received excellent service from both TM and Carson.

Mine shipped friday to, cant wait
Finally had the time to install my new CS coilovers over the weekend. I'm thoroughly impressed. However, I thought I'd pass a bit of info along to other Tein coilover owners. The instructions that were included with mine were in Japanese, so they were essentially useless to me. I was familiar with the installation procedure, so it wasn't a big deal. While installing, I realized that the damper adjustment ***** were set full clockwise, which is the stiffest setting. However, they will rotate around 24-25 clicks counter-clockwise, although they are supposedly 16-way adjustable. I visited tein.com and found some English instructions which stated that they should not be set beyond the 16th setting or it may result in damage to the damper. So, if you want the softest setting don't just crank them all the way counter-clockwise. I'm assuming that the dampers would wear prematurely by setting them this soft. Just thought I'd pass that warning along, so no one ruined their $1400 coilovers.
Also, my TT Bilstein/Eibach's are finally officially for sale on the classifieds page. Click here for more info:

congrats on your purchase and install but i highly reccommend getting the tein edfc [electronic dampening force controller] you can adjust the dampening factor of the struts from the inside of the car
I actually just ordered the EDFC. It should arrive sometime this week.
Looks like I'm going to have to hack up and redesign the end brackets on my JIC strut bar, though. There's no way the EDFC motors are going to fit.
Is anyone else using the EDFC on their SC? Where did everyone else mount the control unit? I like to install it in the stock ashtray location. If it's only 1/4 din in size, it should be small enough to fit. I don't smoke, so cutting up the ashtray doesn't bother me one bit. At the moment it's just collecting wadded up ATM receipts.

im waiting on my camber kits for tm now, then a big sc thread for me
Got my EDFC Friday. I'm actually taking a break from installing at the moment. I was able to hack up the ashtray to accept the control unit. It came out looking pretty good. I'll take some photos once everything is done. I was able to tap into the cigarette lighter wiring for everything but the "All-Time Power Supply" yellow wire. Anyone know a good source to tap into for this? It would be preferable if the wire I'd be tapping into were in the center dash/radio area or nearby. I'm comfortable working on just about any area on my car, but when it comes to wiring, I'm lost.

Sorry, I can't remember which wire but you can probably use a voltmeter to test it.
Yeah, I was actually trying to thread the wire thru towards the ignition when I remembered the hazard light switch. Happens to be the thick solid white wire on the hazards, if anyone's curious. And yes, a voltmeter is your best friend when performing any wiring.
I love the EDFC! I know a lot of people don't think it's worth the extra cost to install the EDFC, if they don't change their settings often enough. Well, you probably would if you could do it at the touch of a button. I'm the type of person who might leave for work in the morning and just want a nice comfortable, Lexus ride. On the way home, however, I may feel a bit frisky and take the alternate route to tackle some twistys. I certainly don't want to have to pop the hood, pull out the trunk lining, and start counting clicks in preparation for the drive home.
This also doesn't take into account the 'cool factor' of this little gizmo. The sounds of the motors turning and the corresponding beeps coming from the control unit, make heading out for a leisurely drive seem like an event.

now that its done do you have the pics of the ahstray ??
The install came out better than I'd expected. The EDFC unit is wider than the ashtray slot, and the slot tapers. So, cutting was inevitable. There is a blank area to the left of the ashtray, but the gear mechanism for the lid is behind there. I ended up having to notch out the cigarette lighter bucket to fit the EDFC. In turn, I had to rotate the cigarette lighter, since the illumination bulb occupies that area. I then created a trim piece to fit around the EDFC to fill in the gaps that the ashtray used to fill. It sounds a little strange, but upon completion, looks quite professional. I only wish the EDFC unit was satin black to look more OEM. At least with the ashtray lid closed, you never see it. Press the lid release, and it's revealed.
