jazzrock, my post you quoted has nothing to do with enabling dark mode which is covered in the first post. click the 3 dots top right and toggle dark mode.

 

the long awaited desktop dark mode updates have finally been released here after much testing!

also, the buttons are now all near white and are like 'lamps' on an otherwise dark page.

 

ooohhhh nice catch on the sub forum links on index pages, I agree they probably don't need to be underlined. No idea on timeframe, but will send this along.

 

trying to put my finger on it, but dark mode still isn't floating my boat, even though in general i use dark mode everywhere i can find it.

i think my issue is the dark mode doesn't have enough contrast and some other things (links) are still underlined when they aren't on 'light' mode.

here's car chat thread list in dark and light.

notice all the page number links are underlined for no reason on dark mode.
notice the thread title has LESS contrast than the thread starter user name on dark mode and ISN'T bold when it is on light mode.
and dark mode doesn't have to mean monochrome. the gold stars on light mode are gold. they're just plain gray on dark mode.

it's like the person(s) who put together dark mode NEVER looked at light mode.

We are aware that there could be some fine-tuning to the style and we're reviewing the feedback. The underlined links, for example, is one of those items on the list to review. Being involved with the process, I can say there was a lot of parts to this and, thus, some things may need further review.

 

IMO, the darker the better. Like in a thread the window where the username and stats are. Make dark mode actually dark.

 

I use a Chome browser plugin (NightEye) and this is what CL forum page looks like for me. Maybe this will help with any changes that may be planned.

 

trying the desktop dark mode again... there's a problem of text color for quoted text and manually colored by users... making it unreadable.

i think the color tag should be disabled, and all text forced to the color by theme (light on dark mode and dark on light mode).
