can't use search function.

everytime i try to use the search in any of the forum or sub-forum, it comes back with this error; "This forum requires that you wait 20 seconds between searches. Please try again in 400826567 seconds"
i have tried a system restore and deleted all cookies etc.
any suggestions?
this started yesterday.
thanks

Give it a shot now, should work.

Dave,

I have the same problem too. It's been over a year with this prob. Everytime I need to search for something, I have to have a fellow CL member search and link to me.

Actually I fixed it a long time ago, but I accidently put the setting back when correcting another problem reported here. Bryan, you must not have tried it after I fixed it... doesn't it work for you now?

The issue is with a 'technical fix' that our tech guy made when he changed the server time about a year ago without taking the forum down. Caused all sorts of problems with posts which he manually corrected.

Unfortunately (this is my theory) the dates he corrected he didn't use in the right format.. they're alphanumeric instead of a date format. So when we have a 'wait period between searches' anyone who posted (or possibly did a search - my second theory) during that period that wasn't corrected right gets an error in the date math. So I turn off that feature.

Dave,

I tried to do it again and it just says loading on my mozilla tab. No biggy, not the end of the world for me. hehe

"olddog, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation. "

olddog

od, I need some links where you get that error if you would please so I can investigate.

We don't have any 'paying member' areas, so that's not it.

The error message is correct, you don't have sufficient privilege to access that post.

It isn't in the main forums anymore, it was moved at the post starter's request.

It's in a moderator-only 'holding' forum. Sorry, no access.
