Default Disappointed here...

I have recently posted a thread about voting (Lexus IS vs BMW 3 series) on autoweek.com and also my new finding about hidden secrets of its voting mechanism. I am disappointed at this ClubLexus administrator who closed my thread simply because he reasoned it is a repost.

I did a similar thread (yes it is a repost in their forum) at MY.IS and I was able to gather so much attention from people. Now Lexus is winning more than 20% of the vote compared to BMW.

Repetition of information is not necessarily a bad thing. If that's what it takes to gather attention from people and win the battle (in this case BMW), I think it is well worth it. It would be courteous to ask the author before closing the thread, don't you think?

it was a repost, and we only need one thread on the same topic at a time, so that's why it was closed.

and this thread does not belong to the IS forum at all too

I'm sorry you are disappointed, but if there are two topics that are the same we either merge them together or we close the repost to avoid confusion, simplify future searches and to avoid the 20 people that will reply REPOST! If you had more information to add on the topic, please simply REPLY to the threads that are already there instead of starting a new one.

Reposting happens so often that we don't try to contact the thread starter, it gets merged or closed and you move along because one of our other 44,000+ members else has already posted the same thing.

Again, I am sorry you don't like the way it was handled, but that's the way it should be done IMO.

You're one of the reasons internet polls are incredibly inaccurate—you're rallying in multiple lexus forums for more votes, rather than simply letting people randomly stumble upon the poll while visiting the site, which would result in more reasonable numbers.

...and then to be disappointed your scheme isn't working here?

Exclamation

Instead of endlessly debating which car (BMW 3 or IS) is better, it would be nice to see what people thinks via polling.

It is really sucks that people don't appreciate my effort. Why is it so wrong to rally people to vote? If you read my post carefully, I never endorse cheating in any of my post. If people cheats, that's their business. I just want Lexus gets the vote it deserves.

I don't see how "randomly stupple upon the poll" is any more accurate reflection of the reality. There is always the activitists who will voice their isolated opinion first. In my opinion, the more people vote, the more accurate the reality is. This is a simple political science lesson.

PPl in my.is actually thinks the poll is important and are much more open-minded.

Since you are pulling political science into this, your method is known as "steering", which is when shills for one candidate "steer" constituents to voting for thier candidate as opposed to allowing them free choice.

If you were to post the same information on both a Lexus board and a Bimmer board, then I would say you were being more fair. By only trying to pull Lexus enthusiasts to the poll, you are trying to skew the results in Lexus' favor.

Ok, I read your post. The phrase I posted below is a cut and paste of your exact words.

For all of Lexus IS lovers here in this forum, please make your voice be heard!! And vote for Lexus in Autoweek.com It's easy... just flood them with our love for Lexus.
(Hint hint: the website does not prevent multiple voting from the same computer. Doesn't matter if it is you, your wife, your daughter or someone to click on the button ten times on your computer!!!)

Edit:
Vote for Lexus... close the browser... vote for Lexus... close the browser and repeat!!!

I don't know where you went to morality school, but in my book.....thats cheating!!

Yes, I have steered the vote in favor of Lexus. But what's wrong with that? I am Lexus enthusiasts and I am just doing what I love to do. If there are no body in BMW camps doing the same thing I did, that's their loss and their problem.

So what's your point about cheating? Where exactly do you find I write to ask people to cheat? I simply found an easy way to vote more than once on the same computer. I have asked my brothers and my cousins to vote on my computer. What's wrong with that? People can ask their friends to vote if they happen to be in their house and use their computer.

This is exactly what I said. You can have ten different people in your house, doesn't matter if it's your, your daughter or someone, to click on the button ten different times on your computer. Ten different times by ten different people if there are ten people in your house. How does this constitute cheating?

Politicians do that all the time. Lobbying on the television. I didn't force people to vote. They still have free choice.

People is not going to know if the old thread is burried in the 4 or fifth page of the forum.

Pure semantics.
This line here says it all:

Now. A little Poly-Sci 101.

Lobbying - as per wikipedia:
Lobbying is the practice of private advocacy with the goal of influencing a governing body by promoting a point of view that is conducive to an individual's or organization's goals. A lobbyist is a person who is paid to influence legislation as well as public opinion. A more tactful description might be said to be someone who is engaged in public affairs.

Campaigning - as per wikipedia:
A political campaign is an organized effort to influence the decision making process within a group. In democracies, a political campaign often brings to mind elections, that are the choosing of decision makers, but it could also include the effort to alter policy within any institution.

There's a difference. Just admit it. You blew something out of proportion and now you see no way out.

Yes... My brother vote, close the browser so my cousin can vote again on my same computer. So? what do you have to prove?

I posted the same info on different forum to tell people about voting. Just like Politician have the same ad on different TV channel.

The difference is people can choose to ignore my thread. I did not pay them or don't think I have that much influence on them. It is still their doing and their free will.
