Default Accelerator Position Sensor Issue (Throttle lag)

I have the standard throttle lag issue that apparently plagues numerous Lexus models. My 02 has just under 35k, no codes have popped up, and all of the other items seem fine (TPS/TB motor) so i think its the degradation of the soldered connections in the APS.

anyone else have this issue? I see on some other models that the owners removed the APS, cut open and resoldered the contacts with great success, anyone on here do the same with the SC430?

Im searching for the replacement part but haven't found the number as of yet.

Im mechanically inclined so if the resolder is an option id be up to trying that.

any input is appreciated. TIA

Leave ECT Power on, down shift to 3 or 4 and floor it. That's how I change lane in traffic.

I always leave ECT and it shifts fine, RPMs dont climb like they should. Sometimes its like a rocket, sometimes its like a Turtle

That's how a Toyota transmission works.
I experience the same thing, especially when I merge into traffic, and it's like wth?

Have you try the trans pressure mod? That's next on my list when next time I change my trans fluid. Hope it helps.

I've heard that change to the Supra 3.76 LSD diff works. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...diy-sc430.html However, this is way beyond what I'm willing to do.

Im Gonna do the trans pressure mod at some point but its not the trans. I have two other Toyota’s and they accelerate just fine very consistently.

I’ve experienced this and it is the traction control...happens to me when I take off fast and wheels break loose...on a turn.

The wheels break loose? I’m definitely missing something. I have 275s and mine dont break loose even with everything turned off in ECT

No, what he is talking about is different. It just sort of pops up one day, with far different symptoms you are talking about. It started happening on my car a couple of days ago.

You are stopped at a light; The light turns green, you press the pedal and there is a pause. It's weird. The engine is solidly running, but your mind wonders if the engine died on you. Then it engages in normal fashion. So your power curve is normal, just with a delay in the front.

Sounds similar but I experience RPMs are slow to climb intermittently. It will wind the rpms up to the max before shifting just much slower than it should. Almost like slow motion.

I noticed the lag, but didn't notice slower acceleration. But maybe it was there. I think I will amend my original post
