Default Just wrecked

Alright guys this is my first post and I am a long time lurker. I have a 2011 ISF with 120k miles. Long story short got hit the other day and insurance adjuster says 6700 to repair car. I may just upgrade to a newer ISF but what would be your recommendations about what to do with the current ISF? It still drives although on bumps the rear driverside tire rubs. Car still runs and drives great appears to be mostly cosmetic. I am in Texas just FYI if anyone wants to buy it .

You’re probably going to have to fight the insurance company and get an appraiser to get what the car is actually worth on total loss.

I'm no ins. professional, but to my eyes this doesn't look anything like a "total loss", esp. on a 2011. I'd have the vehicle repaired and enjoy it for many thousands more miles.

Didn’t say it was a total loss. The shop can force an estimate that will total the car but that’s besides the point I was making in my original post. I was merely stating that if this goes the total loss route, insurance won’t give him anywhere near what he can get private party for the car and he’ll have to invoke an appraisal clause on his policy. Ask me why I know this lmao.

If it is a total loss your insurance is supposed to give you retail value not kelly blue book I’ve totaled mine before well my brother did lol they’ll give u a offer but u can always ask for more as long as there’s other isf around same mileage that’s for sale and you can show them how much it actually goes for remember retail not kelly blue book value

They didn’t give me anywhere near retail for the only car I’ve ever totaled. AAA full coverage, not some cut rate el-cheapo insurance. Had to hire an appraiser and eventually got retail plus taxes/fees... 8 weeks later.

It’s absolutely a waiting game. The longer you wait and the more you raise a stink. The more they loose.

I can confirm they are supposed to give you replacement value, unless there is some garbage fine print in your policy. You also have to accept their offer. It’s gamesmanship every time with an insurance company. Their first offer is never their final offer.

i represented Insurance companies for years.

I hope you get your car fixed.

Exactly. I had to fight with AAA to get that. Luckily at the time I had a second car to drive around so I didn’t care how long the whole thing took. What made me laugh was that AAA could see we have 5 cars and only three drivers. Stop trying to stretch it out lmao

My rates never went up. Wreck wasn’t my fault. Interestingly enough, that was the second time that car got hit under the same policy. Neither was my fault. But I agree. Drop them of they hike up their rates.
