Opinion on possible 2013 RX350 purchase, Pls
Have always wanted a Lexus RX350. Finally narrowing my search down. I'm not going to able to get one with a luxury pkg. No adaptive cruise, no heads up display, no door sill logo lights.
But I've come close.
https://tinyurl.com/yydwb3nm (hope the link works)
It has a clean carfax 2 owners 68,000 miles and good maintenance history. They've dropped the price to $21,700 making it a fair deal. I'd rather pay $19,500 to $20,500 but.
Anyone see a red flag? Its been at this Volvo dealership now some 55 days. Why hasn't this sold yet?
My wife and I are thinking about pulling the plug even at $21,700. We like the color combo and features it does have. I've got an appt with a Lexus dealership to give it the once over for $270!
We'll have to wait and see.
Any thoughts on its a good deal or what?
Thanks
Dave

You don't need the Lexus dealer to give it the once over for that ridiculous price. Any independent Asian or Toyota specialist can inspect a potential used car purchase for about $100.
What condition are the brakes and tires in? Has the transmission fluid been changed? It should be done now if not done already. Have a Lexus or Toyota dealer do it and shop for price. Ignore those idiot dealers that say the transmission is sealed and has lifetime fluid.
You will always find something after the inspection to justify making a lower offer. It is a used car after all and they expect you to make an offer, even if they have lowered the price.
Hard to comment on whether that is a good price as they vary so much in different areas of the country. You need to do your own KBB etc homework.
Good Luck!

Get the VIN# and go to the Lexus owner website and inter the VIN as if you own it(register). You then can see all the Lexus maintenance work in details. Better than the CARFAX.
Sometimes you get the rest of the story!!!

I did check the Lexus maintenance service history, pretty impressive. Also the carfax was right up there with ownership and history. My wife and I drove the car and really liked it. Color and condition. The 60,000 mile service was done and all the fluids were changed, not sure about the transmission. They just put new tires, brakes and oil change.
I just wish KBB was saying it was a great deal and not just fair. I'm a leery kind of guy and don't want to get bam boozled.
I know the $270 is high for pre-buy inspection. The only indie I know is way down south from Bellevue. I don't think there going to let me have the car a whole afternoon to get it checked. The Bellevue dealership is where the car bought and serviced and across the street.
Thanks for the fast reply.
I'm not really a big fan of the info entertainment screen. That doesn't happen to be touch screen as well, is it? Otherwise, that looks awfully unyielding to work. Gotta comprimise somewhere and just give up on finding one in this color combo

The screen is not a touch type but it can be set to turn off within 30 seconds. This is what I done with mine since it's a great distraction for me especially at night..

If you have lot of apprehension buying used, you may like to dish out more and get certified pre-owned. You get some free services and extended warranty. Having it checked by an independent is not a bad idea but that money leaves your pocket and the assessment is just an assessment. [the only good is that you might be steered away from making a bad purchase ,,, as I said nothing wrong with it] but if the out-of-pocket cost is tabulated the CPO may not be a bad deal.

PS: One more thing about purchasing used .. do not compromise on things/accessories that you like. The great advantage is that you are purchasing them at depreciated value. The only and only issue with RX is that there are so many on the road and if you are patient you are bound to find the right one for yourself. So figure out what you really really want and how much you would pay for one at various milage. When you find one, vigorously pursue.
