Default Melting Interior Panels

I have a 2007 model just the normal 460 not the 460 L. I live in the southern US, so it gets really freakin’ hot here. Point it the interior panels in the car always get super sticky and are easily gashed and ruined. I know this is a well documented problem, but I was wondering if there was a running solution that you all have found? Like I should replace these panels with a different material at a local upholstery shop with leather to match the interior or go to the dealership and get just new gooey mess?

Also, would the 460 L models parts fair any differently than the normal 460 model? Would these parts even fit the same on my model car?

Thanks in in advance for any suggestions.

Your car is probably beyond the free replacement period (10 years). Miost of the issue is with the door pull/armrest which you can get recovered for 100-150 per door at an auto upholstery shop.

Also as to your question about the 460L parts fitting the front door panels may fit but getting used ones will just give you the same problem unless you find panels used that are from a car with actual stitched leather panels. The rear door panels will not fit from m understanding as the rear doors on the L are longer than the standard wheelbase so the door panels are long as well.

This is a known defect and should be covered by Lexus under the "Customer Support Program Notification - ZLZ". I also have a 2007 ls460 with the same problem and received the recall letter December of 2018. If you haven't done so you need to register your VIN and personal info at divers.lexus.com. If you do this you may receive the recall notice. An additional benefit of registering your vehicle is seeing your car's dealer service history.

I had my dash and passenger door panel replaced. My int is grey and the new wood def has a different accent even if you factor in sun fading you can tell it’s not the same but I dont care.
Just glad it’s not like sticky flypaper.

Btw when the dash is replaced it includes the front facing wood and the molding down by nav screen.

Still waiting on other door panels and lower ip board. I was told by my service advisor I had to come in to request the glove box and others.
I never got the letter in the mail indicating this warranty enhancement, so it was only thru this forum I was able to apply for it.

I just picked my ls back up, My door panels and dash were replaced. While doing the work, they noted that the center bezel had cracks. Technician said it would break when taken out so i had to buy a new bezel at 507. After a week at lexus and $507 i have a new dash and new door panels. They did not approve my center lid or glove box. I wouldve thought they wouldve replaced the center lid since it does look semi bad. Oh well, that was probably the last time the car will go to the dealer since its now at 137k miles and 11 years old. I'm going to attempt a DIY for the control arms soon.
